First off that was a pretty good punch when he wasn't looking. So if he wasn't stunned from that then he was probably worried about a weapon. Some things aren't worth getting shot or stabbed over. What if those guys on the sidelines were with that kid? Then he would have to fight them off too? This is real life not some movie.
