What I was thinking. Blackbox should give some explanations/Tell their side of the story before the tru hedz start calling for a boycott. A pity for Sparrow & Ruckspin off course but it doesn't seem like Blackbox to just stop the process for no good reason and without telling the artist what's up

dunno i just cant help but think that bandcamp is wack. the name irritates me, the homemade stuff you have to associate with on there...
it just seems fake to me. author music deserves a better outlet than that.
hold out for another proper label tbh

Black Box are backed by Chemical. Cant imagine it being financially unstable? I have a gut feeling a third party (production?) has fucked the label over making the label look bad to the artists.

Thinking seems more than competent, sit would be interesting to hear their side of it.

Bandcamp is a great site, it could be a lot better in terms of acting like a shop, but they take such a small cut of sales i'm surprised more big artists don't release exclusively on there from time to time so they can keep 80% of sales on an EP.

thinking has years of experience running a quality label putting out enough albums for this not to happen, i really do not understand this at all.

curios why they didn't continue working with tectonic. their first album was pretty successful, wasn't it?

love a bit of dubplate dramas, this could be the best one since Cotti vs Doctor

Really hope we can get a comment from Thinking on this one.

All drama aside, is it as good as the last LP? I haven't heard it yet.

Made a list of records I wanna buy when this comes avaliable and its still not out yet.. frustrating, Young Echo album already sold out on Chemical. Can't imagine how frustrating it is for them two.

Still probably the best album out this year.

Conspiricy theory, Mala paid Black Box to fuck it up cause Swindles album was out the same day and Authors was far better.

That is very unfortunately, in my opinion author was providing dubstep some of the best dubstep/bass music and generally they were providing the most musical music.

So they are stopping because of one disagreement with a label?

he's occasionally hinted at 'stopping' for one reason or another over the years.. details were vague but there might have been some heath issues too as far as i could tell?

He once admitted he pretty much stopped with J. Sparrow for a while because of health issues iirc

Hey

just to set it straight...

Black Box set out with the best of intentions I'm sure for our album.
We have had an apology of sorts from Thinking and I can't go into any detail about the reasons why everything ended up the way it did.

We don't hold grudges and let bitterness eat us up which is why we are just going to forget this and move on.

Sometimes you win and sometimes you don't and its just unlucky that 2 out of 3 album didn't see the proper light of day.

There will be vinyl of the latest album and I am quite sure that Tectonic may repress the first album if they see enough demand.

We/I am not exclusive to any labels and just send out music when I have made it to labels and it goes from there and some people like and some don't.

I have given dubstep a lot of my time and neglected a lot of things in my personal life to keep pushing my music and keep trying to deliver quality products.

Comes a time when the cosmos just says "no" and deals a bad card.

luck of the draw!

Thank you to those that have continued to follow the sounds over the years and its only right people know what's going on that have had vested interests and built us up to what we have become.

Our goal with Author was to no be a product of the system and rattle around from magazine to magazine and mix to mix gaining hype. It was about an organic growth and not influencing passive listener and hyping it to the point where people didn't have a choice.

The Author stuff is really not for everyone and nor should it be and that's not elitist that's me being real.

I do hope we can release again in the future and bring something to the table but for now we will retreat and focus on playing the shows and waiting in vein for inspiration for the next project.

:)
