Well golly gosh gee whizz, I've never been asked that before

I voted yes. The concept of a hard working fat person is an oxymoron IMO, if they can put effort into anything then they should be able to do likewise for their physical state, diabetes as discussed above notwithstanding.

The exception to this being chefs. Don't trust a chef who isn't at least a little bit pudgy. If their food is that good, they should be the size of a fucking house.

They're an exception, not a rule though. If a fat person in an office is comparing their lifestyle to that of an NFL player to justify a 7000 calorie a day intake, they're missing the fucking point.

Doing some more reading into this, specifically a couple of articles re; Matt Kalil;

29/Aug/12 - Matt Kalil is packing on the pounds for the NFL. He's also putting his life in danger

2/May/13 - The incredible shrinking Matt Kalil

I had to eat like a bastard to get my weight up to what it is now, the amount this guy eats is just incredible.

my immediate reaction: not so much lazier as slobbier
altho I'm not sure what the distinction is,
maybe that fat people are mentally lazy cos they can't control themselves
(see enough waddling around sweating to know they're not necessarily physically lazy)

but then i think of Dean Lukin...apparently like this Kalil character ^
started relatively puny,
by throwing around tuna & constantly eating got big, including fat
& went off to the Olympics to win a heavyweight weightlifting gold
came home, stopped eating so much & was back to puny in a few years

and my nanna who was quite pretty & spritely until her 30s
when she grew cakeshop arms and jowls & was diagnosed with a thyroid condition
no way was she lazy

as per a lot of things, keep challenging my prejudices.

Im going to have to say it really depends on your genetics. My wife is at the gym 1 hour a day, 7 days a week with a personal trainer and she still cant loose the extra weight.

For me personally, i gain weight really easy. And im a pretty active guy. I do a lot of cycling and hiking. I also try to hit the gym at least 3 times a week. If you looked at me though, you would never guess im as heavy as i am (6' 3", 280 lbs.) Hell, even when i weight over 300 lbs i still didnt look that fat.

About 2 years ago i was super active. Cycling over 200 miles a week, on a super strict diet, working a really physical job, and going to the gym a couple times a week but still never managed to get under 220 lbs. And even then i looked rail thin. :?

Thats not to say that a lot of fat people arnt lazy, but for a lot its just goofy genetics.

Do you worry about dying earlier as a result of being inactive/overweight, and leaving your kids without a father?

Even though it may be more likely, I try not to assume.

Are 'perceive' and 'assume' interchangeable in this instance?

Fat people that are comfortable being fat aren't bad in my book. I actually respect them too for being comfortable with their own body regardless of societal pressures.

But those that make up excuses like LOL IT'S MY GENES I AM NORMAL or just say they have a shitty metabolism. Those boil my blood. Take some fucking responsibility. Going from fat to normal is actually kind of easy. At first it's hard but after 3 weeks you get mad results already and for a few months fat will just burn right off if you do it right. I went from pudgy around the waste to sixpack in 5 months while I was eating an XXL sized rack of ribs or 2 double hamburgers every weekend.

Fat people can be fat burning machines if they just eat a little more food, but less carbs, all in the right ratio. They don't have to work out to get results (I'd even innitially advise against it).

And if your metabolism is so slow, then eat less. THERE. FIXED.

My biggest pet peeves, though, are fat girls who say they advocate 'body acceptance', but always go on about how ugly skinny girls are. Oh yeah, creating an entirely different stigma and demonizing girls with a different body type, THAT'S body acceptance. Or sharing pictures of thin girls with visible abs, but big hips/asses thinking that being fat is the same as thin and curvy.

Nah, i know loads skinny lazy people and chubby active people - lots of people i play rugby with are pretty chubby but fit as can be.

I consider big blobs lazy, but not people who are a bit fat.

Yes I think so. Or at least assumption gives rise to perception.

depends on the person obviously. some people are fat because they're lazy and don't get exercise. others have a disease. but as a whole i think it's safe to say that fat people are, on average, lazier than skinny/average weight people

if they're fat for a reason/can't lose the weight for a reason, then no.

if there isn't a reason for their weight issues then yeah, it's not that hard to lose weight, it takes commitment/hard work to see results very quickly, it get's easier the more time you invest into it.

but at the same time, don't judge a book by it's cover, some people are just weird and fat but fit/more capable than skinny people.

Practically every girl I know goes on like that these days. They are clearly just jealous though. Skinny girls look awesome and only when it starts getting to so-skinny-my-bones-stick-out levels (which is almost always brought on by some fucking eating disorder anyway so they could show a little more sensitivity on the subject IMO!) do they start to become unattractive.
Sometimes when these girls go on like this (and they are always slightly on the chubby side) I swear they are actually trying to convince me that I should be more attracted to them than actually hot girls.
I don't get it -q-

I think different body types look good with different amounts of fat. There's this girl who was by no means chubby, but she had these huge hips and.. ass and she had the best body I've ever seen. Naked or clothed. Real life OR pictures. When she was put on ADHD meds, she lost so much weight that she was skinny, not unhealthily, but she just wasn't as attractive anymore.

Other girls just can't carry it that well and look better when they're skinnier.

A girl with a little extra carries herself well and with confidence, I'll be a lot more attracted to her than just another 'skinny hot girl' with major insecurities.
