Yeah I take this as I can't find anywhere to get melatonin.
Not every night though as it's pretty hard on the liver. Usually just weeknights when I've been working late and know I'm gonna have trouble sleeping.
Never heard it was bad for the liver? Where'd you see that? It's even hard to cause serotonin syndrome as it's only the precursor to it

Can anyone who has taken proper sleeping meds (ambien, xanax, etc) vouch for melatonin actually working?

^ Yes. It works innitially, but then you have to bump up the dosage and stop taking it for a while.

I'm sure I read somewhere in the past that at higher doses especially it was bad for the liver. Looking it up now online I can't see anything confirming this. So ignore me, and apologies for spreading around ill-informed broscience

How good compared to Xanax? I've only ever had xanax twice cause I couldn't sleep and it knocked me completely out for about 5-6 hours and its the best sleep I've ever had, felt so refreshed, was really surprised cause it was a heavy night too

Xanax is literally the best thing ever
I'm glad that they have only come across it in the wild on rare occasions... seems like there could be a lot of potential for abuse (speaking about me personally, not the general populous!)

no, the general populous will abuse it too
but yeah. it's good, puts you to sleep.... until it stops working, and you can't fall asleep without it
so yeah, don't depend on xanax to get to sleep.

I have scrips for ambien and Ativan for insomnia. As far as melatonin goes, it won't help you get to sleep. That's not its purpose. But it will help you stay asleep depending on how bad your insomnia is. Valerian root will help also. Smells like ass though.
Only thing that's ever 100% worked for me is 750mg percocets.
But Ativan with a beer isn't bad also.

I take a 3mg Melatonin lozenge that I dissolve under my tongue every night. I lay in bed while it dissolves and I almost always end up falling asleep with in 15 minutes of it dissolving. With out it usually takes me 1-3 hours to fall asleep. It's not a good habit and I wouldn't recommend taking it every night because as I said I can't usually fall asleep without it but it works for me.

Yeah. My buddy gave me some a while ago. There super hard to to get (which is probably a good thing). But It's like being hugged to sleep by a big fluffy cloud.

Used it last night and I'm feeling super groggy. Never had that before. Slept well, but didn't really feel like getting otu of bed (still did tho).
Feeling really groggy right now, THO, I did workout on an empty stomach today and took a caffeine supplement before I went to the gym. So I could just be having my caffeine crash atm.
I used to start on 1 gram doses tho, and I'm on 3 now. I think I'll cycle it (either every other day or few weeks on/off). Skip it today and see how I'm feeling.

Thats not good, thats why I take cocodamol + wine combo instead of normal over the counter sleeping tablets cause I hate the groggy feeling you get from them. Did you wake up naturally or an alarm?
