yeah i feel you on that, there's only a handful of artists i really really like, rest of the tunes are kinda meh and samey. still think i'd rather listen to that than the beatport top 100

nah, dungeon is bad, but theres far worse & more bait than that.

Personally I think there's a lot of snobbery regarding what is and isn't considered as 'true DJing'... of course we can all appreciate a DJ using nothing but two decks and a mixer but why not use certain tools that are available if you want to?

I remember being at raves when CDJs started gaining popularity and people getting mad at them being used and now they are the club standard and nobody really has a problem with them. A lot of DJs who use them don't do anything very interesting but someone like DJ EZ uses them in ways where you couldn't replicate what he is doing if you used vinyl.

Other people have problems with cue points but I think they can allow for some creative quickfire mixing when used effectively.

Pre-recorded sets obviously I draw the line at, 1) because to me part of the skill of DJing is reading a crowd and drawing for certain tune accordingly and 2) because it is just a piss-take, if those who did this had the balls to hit play and then sit down for the whole set, or dance with the rest of the crowd I would respect them more, but the fact they stand around and pretend to mix is embarrassing. It's the deceit that is the worst thing IMO.

One thing I can't stand is that knob on Traktor S4 that lets you skip through the track whilst it's synced so you can drop it anywhere you want, perfectly in time. It must be boring as hell to mix that way and it sounds horribly clinical
