Totally agree about over-saturation. It nearly killed my enthusiasm to find new good music. I had to take a step back and only have a browse on here & my soundcloud every now and then looking for new stuff. I only really listen to N-Type's rinse show every now and then. This place was so awesome when i first started looking for new music tho. Fanstastic.

Im not sure I understand this.... insert divvy smiley. I log in with facebook and it just summarises pages I've liked on facebook? apart from the bizarre inclusion of some big star articles, which i can only fathom it has grabbed from my iphones music playlist?

its a bit like an RSS feed?

yeah i'd not mention that, piracy is pretty much globally frowned on around here, despite a lot of members participating in it.

getting on topic here this site is one of the biggest sites i follow for music, and soundcloud. blogs like trusik and fkof are a good source for mixes and free downloads. also honestly twitter and facebook, twitter more so, i'd never have guessed all my favorite artists are hanging out chatting publicly somewhere. definite goldmine. stations like rinse and sub.fm are solid too.

Hmm - no, not exactly. Shouldn't be a FB logon for starters; you enter a band/artist and it shows you an association cloud, i.e. "you liked this so you might like this, this, and this." I know there are other such services/sites out there but this one was the first that actually worked and showed me acts I'd not heard of before (unlike others which are like 'You like Anstam and Funckarma? We think you might like Diplo and Avicii!' )

I logged into the app using my facebook account. really couldnt be arsed with creating another login for another thing that might get deleted. Had a little look seems like I need t explore it a little more to get the news feed thingy more active.

Also, the best method varies depending on the genre. If it's genres where releasing albums is more "common" to do, skimming through RYM charts usually leads to great findings. But in genres like Dubstep where releasing singles is a common practice, lurking around places such as these is a good method. Of course, finding good stuff requires some dedication, so just hang in there

I tend to very picky about songs and artists. Often, I'll' see one of my favorite producers post a tune by a producer I didn't know about on FB and end up loving a track/style. My primary source for new tunes is Discogs.com though. I tend to research labels' catalogs and keep up with new releases that way.

I'll listen to the occasional podcast such as getdarker. I intentionally don't do that too often as a lot of the tunes played out by Dj's are those never to be released dubs, which is torture when I hear good song I know I'll never possess. I'm like " I want this song, am throwing money at my screen. Why isn't anything happening?"

Soundcloud for me, tbh I think following the genre hinders my enjoyment of it. As mere mortals and non-DJs you rarely get the tracks you want and when you do the tunes are rinsed

i find last.fm extremely helpful for recommending me techno. however when it comes to dubstep it just usually recs me artists everyone (at least everyone here) knows, it thinks i still haven't listened to Pinch or Tunnidge

This made me think. I actually don't know, I don't feel like I specifically look for it anymore. Occasionally see stuff on soundcloud, but a lot more rarely now because the site racks me off so much. Other than that, facebook I guess, artist/dj and label pages (which is especially good for labels that do DIY releases with no distro), see what my mates are talking about, a lot of recommendations for non-dubstep stuff in SNH.

I ain't really bothered about get hyper over tunes that aren't gonna come out for years either, so I do a lot of looking on juno, redeye whatever to see what's coming out in the near future.

like that one untitled Proxima track Yunx dropped in late june, i want that to be released so badly but i have to keep reminding myself it probably wont come out until 2014
