IDK if there will be more sales, but here's something:
http://www.native-instruments.com/en/sp ... -holidays/
A free compressor that they will soon charge for, 4-5 Traktor Remix sets(who cares, right?), and a $25 e-voucher for ALMOST anything on their site.
I paid $460 for Komplete 9 AFTER TAXES on Amazon during their Black Friday sale. It was pretty sweet cause I've been meaning to buy Massive, FM8 and Guitar Rig, and to buy them individually would be silly, even at $100 each for their sale.

Neat. I was wondering where this years freebie was coming out.

Im reading reviews and seeing alot of people saying they are cpu hogs, anyone use them before??
I got prism as part of a maschine upgrade... I loooooooooove it. I'd still be hitting's but I got board, but that is how much I love it. Make totally totally different sounds. And modulate them in different ways, well beyond just like env and lfo's on filter, pitch and attack. For the first since I pretty much learned subtractive, I'm totally jazzed to synthesize sounds.
Really really amazing.
But it is a huge huge CPU hog. Running maschine on my 2 core 2.66 i5' and two prisms had me pressed against max CPU, grainy glitchy playback.
But it is worth it. Resampling would be the path, but modulations produce such exciting sounds, you really do want to stay in the synth.

Yeah dude I'm always going on about Prism. Don't hear a lot of people rate it but it's amazing. Got that organic vibe locked.

I find it great for dance percussion, like pitched percussive sounds. Make big impacts but are also tonal, like a vibra/xylophone. Future garage heads must love this thing.

Maybe I'm a future garage head and don't know it. I'm a square peg hanging around round holes.

+1 for Prism,
Most of my organic sounds-but not actually organic come from it these days. Its great at designing stuff what doesn't sound electronic.

Exactly, which is pretty much always my goal when doing sound design. Nothing I hate more than a raw square wave right out of a synth. If I can explain an instrument's topology to someone in less than 5 minutes I'm not interested, it's just not complex or rich enough for me.

I wish they'd allow me to use these vouchers on something valid.

I checked out Supercharger and it's sweet. I know some of y'all aren't big on 'one knob compressors', but for as long as they have a wet/dry knob on there, which this one does, I think they're awesome for adding some saturation to the signal. And they're good for compressor noobs who haven't grasped compression yet.

I think Im going backwards from this. I keep making cheesy as fuck 80's inspired synths then listening to them on a loop with a face like

Yeah, fuck that. I love a raw square, or a raw saw, or a raw triangle. When I use massive, I use the same few waveforms everytime.

As a MAschine User I got the K9 cross grade for $199. Definitely couldn't pass it up. It was back ordered for about 3 weeks though. Ordered on Dec. 2 and its just now been shipped. Oh well. Can't wait to get it.

Yeah, I'm bummed I couldn't jump on that. I'm not used to this being broke thing. Hell, I still have to wait for Xmas just to get 2.0.

Even if its not the most versatile synth out there, its a great source of inspiration. Also good for those "wtf?!" sounds.
Both tracks in your sig are nice, I've listened to them each twice already
On topic: Should I buy Razor? I remember seeing an ad for it last year and people couldn't wait for it. I don't keep up with NI though.

Thanks man, glad you dig them.
I think razor is one of those synths everyone can benefit from having. You're not going to use it everyday, but when you do its adds that certain edge ( no pun intended) to a track or even a sound that needs layering. If it's still on sale, go for it. The update is very nice also. I wouldn't say it give you more flexibility, but it defiantly give you some new colors to paint with.

Finally got 2.0 last night and it's awesome. But I probably spent more time playing with prism and scarbe than anything else. Both sounded amazing and i can't wait to really start playing around with them.

Haha, was all about figuring out 2.0, bizzy little beaver, and then I hit prism, and was like wtf!!! Saying it again, first time I really enjoyed synthesizing sound outside of subtractive. Learning that thing, though... fuck who knows.
