Prince is great all round, but His best pop song is and always will be Manic Monday.
Or Nothing Compares 2 U. Largely due to excellent and correct usage of the word whom in a chart topping ballad.

my dad cried when he performed nothing compares
it reminded him of the time he was off his face on pills whilst my mum was at home with me on nye
