He was accused of joke theft a few times. In one of the major comedy clubs in LA in the early nineties there was a red light backstage that only came on for two reasons. One was that there was a scout/TV Exec in, so use your best material. The other was that Robin Williams was in, so don't use your best material.

There's also a reused joke among comics: "Robin Williams was watching a comic on stage and didn't like any of his material. So he stole his watch."

Fuck, I think I just quoted Jez from Peep Show as if he was a real person.

I think I need to go into timeout for a bit.

Poor chap, he always loved larking
And now he’s dead
It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way,
They said.

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
And not waving but drowning.

I've been bummed out all day tbh.

Not that I liked his work that much. But as a sufferer of depression, he's always been the positive example of finding a way of living and dealing with that, even in a way where it almost looked like an advantage. So when the rest of us- 'kind of like that', experience that even he, with that attitude, spirit, a shit load of succes and a loving family, still couldn't deal with it - it becomes a terrifying reminder of how potent and dangerous this shit is.
