This and Synth1 (freeware) are all you really need. Anyone spouting that Massive/Sylenth/etc are essential needs to step up their sound design game.
mariotee wrote:Well, SWIM torrented massive for use with their DAW. SWIM plans on using it until SWIM makes money, then SWIM will buy massive when SWIM a) has a decent income or b)makes $100 solely with music.
LOL @ justifying piracy. "Yeah yeah...once I make money then I'll pay for my shit". Jokers

(Who is SWIM btw? Are they a brostep artist?)

Hmm, then how come Massive is so popular among the big names? I'm not saying it's essential, just that it's one of the best.
wub wrote:(Who is SWIM btw? Are they a brostep artist?)
SWIM stands for Someone Who Isn't Me. It's a lame attempt for someone to cover up something illegal they've done by saying it wasn't them while bragging about it.

Because it has a distinctive sound that is popular amongst brostep/jump up fans. Doesn't mean it's "the best", just means that it can produce sounds that will appeal to lowest common denominator genres easily that will make people money.

And the early Skream/Benga stuff came straight out of FL stock plugins.

It doesn't matter what you use if you know what you're doing.

Yes, but some people enjoy tonguing the ulcer nevertheless.

I'm pretty sure Skream and Benga didn't have the slightest clue what they were doing though.

Are you a hipster? I just wondered where this disliking of popular things comes from?

Massive can be used to make almost any type of sound, that's why it's so awesome. And the modulation is through the roof.

I see 3 osc mentioned in this thread - is that a joke or what? You can't do shit with a synth like that in comparison to Massive, unless you're including DAW automation and long FX chains.

I can understand Massive being a decent security blanket for those who aren't up on their sound design skills, or those that don't want to spend the time learning 3xOsc and Synth1 when a more ready made Brutal Electro patch variation will suffice.

Also LOL at being called a hipster for not liking brostep sounds because they're "popular"

You can make anything with Massive. People who say it's just for brostep are people that don't know synthesis and haven't even read the manual.

Have you actually spent any time with Massive? It's a genius piece of software. There's plenty of non-brostep artists that use it too, it's good for more than just screeching bass sounds. The interface and intuitiveness of it are really what makes it great, beyond the sounds it can generate.

Lmao just lmao.
Why would I spend ten times as long tweaking shit in 3xOsc, adding effects, then resampling etc etc to make an inferior sound to something I could make in less than a minute using Massive? Never in my life did I imagine there would be Fruity stock plug-in elitists lol.

I'd go for the actual answer.

Because its one of the easiest to pirate and one of the most stable when pirated.

Even the bugs with the cracked version can be fixed with a simple google.
