concorde nightclub e's all the way here. True, I have "sunken a mount pin" (screwed em in too tight and ruined the cartridge) as Parson describes, and that sucks. They still have my favorite feel and sound.

Really? More so than other Ortofons?

I'm a satisfied user of these. My only complaint is that I've got to learn not to leave them behind at gigs because they're not cheap! Now having to replace the 2nd pair I've lost this year.....

There are several stylii available for Concorde carts - some recommend 3g, some 4g. Shure's carts/stylii largely need no more than 2g... so yeah they will be a little kinder to your vinyl.
I use concorde's with dj e (elliptical) stylii.... the dj e's are one of those stylii that only needs 3g, and also has better jhigh freq response than the S carts wjhich are better for scratching (and often need 4g)

I've currently got a pair of Ortofon Concord Pro S but they are nearing the end of their life span. I'm lookin to spend about £120 on a pair of new carts but now I dunno what to get because this post has brought me to believe Shure are better
Anyone wanna link me to my perfect set of carts then? (keepin in mind how much I wanna spend)

Theres no specific needle for dubstep.
Love Concordes, Nightclub E, had 'em for 4 years, wont damage anything if you set your tone arm correctly.

bass response on m44-7 is much heavier than on the whitelabels. in general shures are loudest, hence best for any and all timecode systems out there. and as has been said before, wear on your vinyl/dubplates is least with the m44-7 as only 2-2.5g weight on the tonearm are needed for proper use... incl. for scratching, beatjuggling, what have ya...

I have mine adjusted to 2g. Don't need any more weight at all. Seen people however for what ever retarded idea that they would have it set to 3-4g . Like WTF is the point? And then they wonder why the sound quality of there vinyl just deteriorates so fast.

I got the M44-Gs myself, had them for ages and I got no complaints. I heard that their top end sounds nicer than m44-77's but I don't actually know if it's true. Think they're less than £120 too for whoever has that price range.

when i was looking they were around 30 quid each, ended up getting whitelabels though and love em

i use Ortofon OM Nightclub E's and they are beautiful
nuff bass too
I wouldn't suggest getting Concords as I have heard from several people that they ruin tone arms
M44's are sick aswell and have mad bass I just find they dont have as much clarity and life in the sound as Ortofons

M44-7s have a distinct hump in their frequency response. Good for clarity when scratching over hiphop, not so nice with the piercing dubstep snares.
M44-7Gs have less of a hump.
Problem with both those carts is the needles are fairly easily damaged, and there's a bit too much bass amplification.
Ortofons sound nice, bloody expensive for what they are though. Don't hold the groove quite as nice as the M44-7s/7Gs, but the sound is sweet.
I've got M44-7s but I wanna try the whitelabels. They seem to be the best compromise of holding the groove and giving a good output level and sound while also protecting your tunes.
