Sorry, I didn't mean to say their tunes should only come out on CD!! What I meant was, do some CD releases now to showcase / document the live sound, and also build up appetite for both full-length artist releases and for more vinyl releases. (CD is much more profitable than vinyl even considering the downloading problem - unless you can sell 12s direct off your website, which is a pain in the butt.)

Then use these CD releases to build up some working capital to do more vinyl releases, ideally double packs. Cos I reckon there's a ready market of 2000 or more people to buy the vinyl even if it's been on CD already -- especially if we're talking mix CDs.

Probably won't happen, but a man can dream (and this would build their careers, I reckon... though I could be wrong)...

I totally agree with that.

Sort of a "history of Dmz" CD would be awesome, and probably raise some cash for future vinyl releases.

hopefully loads more 12"'s to come. meanwhile, i think an unmixed cd would be nice... to tidy history. and get some tracks out on 12" that aren't a year old.
i'd be happy to see these tracks not lost to history.
more infrastructure!!!

I definitely am in favour of compilation cds.

More so than artist albums or mix cds (which have their place but not every album should be mixed) they provide a perfect snapshot of an era - who could do without platinum breakz 1 and 2 now for inspiration and memories?

back on topic, sgt. pokes said that loefah hates left right left, even though he made it, and mala is the only one who plays it.

that strikes me as odd, as that tune is badass

That really sucks, guess it'll never see release then :(

I wonder why he doesn't like it, it's an absolutely ridiculous tune. Tribal war march business :D

How weird. Although the first time I heard it, I was convinced it was a Mala track :)

Hah, and the first time I heard Learn I was certain it was a Loefah track :D

the future lies in diversity. If an artist can get their music released on vinyl, then they could easily get a number of mp3 sites to sell their tunes for them.

On top of that a lot of artists are releasing CD's that include 2 disks. Cd 1 is mixed and cd 2 is unmixed. By doing that everyone is happy from cdj's to vinyl dj's. And most but not least the artist has 3 ways to make money instead of just 1!!!!!

Get on it people!

this tune is big , but it's not nearly as big as mud or shattered IMO.

I can agree with that...

I guess my internal reference point was Hip Hop mix CDs, which 1) have annoying shouting over them,
and 2) have vastly undercut artists and severely damaged the scene. But comps can be done with class.

really? that's cool. nuff respect to loefah for trying something different once again, but i'm not feeling the military riddim at all.

well, then loefah should give it to mala and let him release it. I want to have that tune. It reminds me on running thru castle wolfenstein. :P:

this is a quite common phenomenon. as all the producers on the forum will know listening to a tune you made is very different experience to listening to one made by someone else.

having heard it thousands of times from the first sound up, it's really hard to get a normal emotional response from it, instead of listening to the mixdown etc

first (and only) time i heard left right left was down here in brighton when dmz came down last year, must have just been done, and mala was playing it then, its a heavy tune but I can see why loefah might not like it ( despite makin it)..
