it could be live (hitting keys on a keyboard + twisting LFO knobs etc.) on a laptop or DJing on a laptop (hitting pixels with a mouse that makes music play, like glitch mob + bassnectar). obviously the former would be preferable, and would take dubstep light years ahead IMO.

2 guys on synths and 1 guy on drums. that's what i hope.
how do laptops constitute a live band? how is it different from just a 'live' set?

I love the fact that Magnetic Man pops up again as the biggest dubstep mystery! Cant wait to hear about the liveness!

it would be nice to somehow do the fulll band thing. we shouldnt think live dubstep whould be anything like pendulum. I remember seeing craggz n parrallel forces and london elektricity full live bands and they blew me away

Ok, SURELY, if it was some new live show thing they were doing, they would have educated the masses with some sort of interview explaining what is in this 'live' show... anyone have a link?

I bet you its just them DJing, and in all honesty i'd prefer that really!

Doesn't say anything about it being 'live' on the website for the club Digital in brighton, where they are playing.

SKREAM if your reading this, clear up the confusion son!

as far as i've heard, they got money given to them by the art council to purchase laptops, so that they could play live. Not so unusual for edm people to play live off laptops, and i reckon it'll be quite a bit more special than them djing. Gutted there isn't a scottish date.

So its not a live band then... Still interested to see what its all about, it would be a better show if they used a few controllers and out board bits, just for the performance aspect. Someone hunched over laptop in the dark does sometimes take away from the performance for me, but then I am more of a musician, who likes a good show to go along with the music.

what exactly does 'live' mean to you in 2008 in an electronic music context? they're hardly going to be turning up with the fucking london symphony orchestra in tow now are they?

who knows what will happen, but the publicity and anticipation is obviously working or there wouldnt be so many replies to this thread. no business like show business!

as i said before, if it was a totally new 'live' experience, i'm sure the publicity would be alot larger the it has been!

do people consider a laptop show any more 'live' then spinning vinyl? personally i don't...

BUT i am going, even if they're rocking banjo's and flutes
