i get the impression that the US see's its self as the bad ass daddy when it comes to urban culture and music.
some US urban centers are "badass" for the simple fact that if i walk down the wrong street with the wrong color t-shirt i will get shot.

but as i hear this behavior being glamorized in the latest gangster rap booming out of a kiddies' mercedes his dad bought him, i realize that the "badassness" in the urban music scene isnt the same as the badass on the streets.

maybe yall across the pond have experienced this in your own culture?

thank you for turning a serious music discussion into a slanging match you prik. it's people like you keeping Latvian ballroom dancing from making it big

Latvian ballroom is nothing but slowed down Yemenese Drum'n'folk, its a fad and will die along with Ghanian EDM and Scottish Gamalan anyway.

Oh and PRIK.

argh it's not slowed down Yemenese drum n folk you tit. it actually derives from Polish tango, do some research before you start making ill formed assumptions. Latvian ballroom is a melting pot of so many different sounds and dances and that's what makes it so special. it's the sound of the future and you know it. Yemenese drum n folk ran out of good ideas years ago

there is also no one really pushing it and doing it well on the overground, there is also this total bitchy "past generation will always be better" kinda thing.

pff I used to be well into UKHH when I was at school, I completely fell out of love with it.

UKHH is a little bit pants, there r some decent producers which i rate but generaly its contrived... also the only reason there is no "gangster bollocks" in ukhh is cos theres not really any criminal element involved in that scene...

what?

if you mean the UK are good at exporting good idea's...yeh maybe so. nothing wholly 'american' has ever grabbed me by the balls...but thats just me...

...apart from ...psychedelic west coast country circa 1967 onwards. true story.
