I use it live, and making mixes. version 7. it's nice. haven't tried any production on it, for some reason, Reason 4 seems more intuitive for production (although not by much, as I am apparantly slow)

Just keep using Live, once you get past the initial unfamilarness, its actually quit easy. Least as adding instruments effects, recording, painting piano rolls ect.
The set up to make choons in fruity is a little easyer i guess. But once you get used to live there isnt much difference.
Also ive found FL8 to be kinda glitchy as far as adding Breverb, Genwav ect. Probally cause my comp is sorta garbage lawl

What problems are people having with live? Not offering to help or anything, i'm relatively new to it and producing in general, but it seems really intuitive to me, would be interesting to see another perspective.

Live is my weapon of choice since version 4! I use it for making music and for mixing.
I love the programm, it allows a really fast workflow and you get quite fast results from the first idea sketching to a track (once you got past the session/arrangment view barrier).
Best thing about Ableton is the really easy automation of parameters, the audio editing and that its actually made with making electronic music in mind. This starts with how the VSTs are represented in each track and ends with how easy it is to sample, resample and edit things. Furthermore it has really good effects and allows things like effect chaining with multiple velocity layers or frequency sperated effects.
The only thing i miss atm is dual screen support.
From the price value point of view, i'd say FLStudio or Reaper is the best right now, but i always had my problems with audio recording in FLStudio. Reaper is a classic sequencer though.

Happens to me as well. Guess it's about going to the arrangement view and building more there... You can loop there as well easily, but I always forget about that.Wallace wrote:Kinda unsure on how i feel about Live.

Havnt tried to loop in arragement view.
Bru runs live 7 on a mac, complaining about it crashing to.

Been using the program for a year and it is by far a MACHINEE that can wobble asses and infect brains with about anything your brain is infected with. The possibilities are endless and its an all in one FUN making MACHINEE .

I've been using Live since version 5, I skipped 6, and am on 7 now. I love it, I use it in the studio, as well as for live performances. I switched over from from Sonar.
I found the built in tutorials really beneficial, and recommend them for anyone who wants to learn Live.

best thing about ableton is using the session view as a scratch pad, then jamming out the loops live and recording into arrangement, then editing and tweaking and rearranging. that's why i love it.
