nah. its always been that way. lolbright maroon wrote:I think pop music has severely declined since the 80's - and it seems that every song I want to like is covered in some retarded ass lyrics or bad culture references.
...to be flat and dry about it...
Everything seems manufactured..
.. by style obsessed child pornographers.
i know you were joking. i am just pissed off and acting like an ass cuz me and my wife had to put our cat to sleep on saturday.Parson wrote:and i also was quoting ice cube. i don't think pop sucks.
if you like something can it really be bad? i also like some happy hardcore - i don't think it's the most intelligent credible music in the world. but i certainly don't have that criteria set up to decide whether or not i like something.Piston wrote:so you don't like anything that on another level you see as being quite badboomnoise wrote:it really perplexes me why people don't feel comfortable with liking pop records.
its not because its pop music...i feel the same way about happy hardcore
i love timbalands production
its usually the other way around and most people are only comfortable liking pop songs...i guess some people are understandably guilty of wishing to distance themselves from that way of thinking so they do the reverse.
i just like having a variety of stuff to listen to is all
it is what it is bruv..Parson wrote:fuck man

I think people become purists about music and rejecting "pop" music for the same reasons they become dogmatic about religion and politics.boomnoise wrote:if you like something can it really be bad? i also like some happy hardcore - i don't think it's the most intelligent credible music in the world. but i certainly don't have that criteria set up to decide whether or not i like something.Piston wrote:so you don't like anything that on another level you see as being quite badboomnoise wrote:it really perplexes me why people don't feel comfortable with liking pop records.

if i like something i don't think it's bad. you can bring in other things like it being cheesy, base, dumb or whatever, but if i like it i think it's good.
liking someone's production but not liking the vocal is a different issue i reckon.
you can perhaps think something lacks the values of something else but to what extent is this judgment your own and to what extent are you being influenced by other factors?
this isn't really the issue here is it.Parson wrote:what if you like government propaganda that makes you feel like joining the army? certainly that could be argued to be bad?
all music/art can be imbued with meaning/purpose. when that purpose is bad, the art could be argued to be fundamentally bad.
