For the £299.99 you pay for a PS3 (which you get game with, GT5:prologue as standard or even Grant Theft if you buy from some online retailers) you get SO much more than what you get with the top spec 360 model.

-Built-in wireless as standard. Microsoft Wireless adaptor = £59.99
-Bluetooth (meaning you're not forced to buy a Microsoft specific headset, and can use any old bluetooth one, the one you have for your phone perhaps)
-A Blu-ray player: it's next-gen of movie watching, DVDs being phased out slowly, and it's actually the best BD player on the market (granted, Sony did make it and they did invent BD) (Around £300 to buy one separately.. also means you dont have to buy batteries for your Pads, they charge via USB)
-Free Online play £39.99 a year with Xbox
-The ability to install ANY 2.5" HD if you want more than the 40gb you get as standard. Can only buy a Microsoft specific hard drive which has a RRP of £129.99 and is only 120gb.. (320gb 2.5" HD's can be had for £60..)
-Full HD support, again, as standard. You only get this with the top 360 model, I forget which one as there are so many out now.

What's the 360 got going for it? The fact it's been out nearly 2 years longer? OBViously it'd have more games, I laugh when people try use that one! The PS3 exclusives list for the next few months (let alone the next couple years) makes the 360 look redundant.

I'm a geek, shhhtandard, but I hate coming across like a "fanboy". Serious, people who use that term as diffffurunt.

I've got a PS3 and a 360 in my flat, if I had to choose I wouldn't even think twice.

But no, on a level, I know a good handful of people who didn't wait for the PS3 to come out and can't afford to get it now, but feel gutted.

Don't really care what one people buy, but I'm just giving an honest opinion which happens to very much favour one over the other.

(Worst part is, I've had my PS3 since August and as much as I rave about it, I hardly EVER get to play it..)

I know where you're coming from, but not all people play online, need wireless, a bigger hard drive etc so the basic model xbox from that point of view is perfect.

I like both machines, but i veer towards the PS3 for online games as more friends seem to have them now.

I just hope the PSN picks up and gets demos, original games more frequently..XBL is a far more comprehensive service at present.

I wouldn't say "far more" mate.. Live has it's perks, but they're not enough to make me get a 360. As you say, online gaming is picking up very fast on the PS3 and more and more people are on it, possibly because the PS3's been outselling the 360 since xmas, possibly because it doesn't cost us anything to get online.

Main point being, PS3's online system does it's job very well.. don't you agree? I can't fault it. Anything extra I'd consider a bonus.

The PS3 gets demos, of which I download about 10% cos demos don't particularly appeal to me.

The whole XBLA system is going to be shat on by "Home" when it comes out. I don't mind waiting, I'm happy just actually 'playing' online for now.

As for dl'ing films and TV. Do you have to pay? If so, how much? I don't know anything about that. But I do know that it's a piece of piss to stream media between your PC/Mac and your PS3, so if you've downloaded a movie on your computer (be it legally through itunes or going through the torrents) then you can stream if off it and through your PS3 and watch it via your TV.. if you have a serious TV, this is a serious ting!

Xbox originals.. as in, games from the original Xbox machine?! Honestly, cute perk and all, but who cares. I prefer the idea of downloading original PS1 games to play on the PSP.

Another great thing about the PS3: Remote Play

Wherever you are in the world, if you have a wifi internet connection, you can access your PS3 via your PSP.. if you have one.

With it you can watch any movie you have on your PS3 hard drive, play any PS1 games you download from the Playstation Store, listen to music, all sorts.

Not only that, but you can watch Digital TV.

"Play TV" is coming end of summer and, basically, turns your PS3 into a Tivo or Sky+ type of thing.

You can pause, rewind, record Live TV, schedule shows to be recorded.

Best thing, you can utilise Remote Play with your PSP to access 'Play TV' wirelessly, making you able to watch BBC 1, ITV, E4, whatever (!) on your PSP where ever you happen to be in the world. Or even watch any programs you've scheduled your PS3 to record.

It's just better.

I've just bought my cousin a PS3 though. Need to find a courier to get it down to London as I won't be back in time for his birthday.

Genuinely just think the PS3 is miles ahead, even with the 360 having a near 2 year advantage.

Just don't want anyone to buy something I reckon they'll probably regret later on. Ain't like £2/300 is loose change for everyone get me.

Sony seem more concerned with making the PS3 a multimedia product whilst microsoft seem more concerned with the games at present.

Ha, yeah I get you man.. the PS3 is becoming an all-in-one multimedia centre. But that's what I love about it. But, also, this includes gaming and I truly cannot see how the PS3 is lacking in that department and how, if they are ever so slightly, that could be down to anything other than the well over a year head-start Microsoft had with releasing their console earlier.

Gotta remember, the PS3's only been out in the UK since March of last year, hardly any time at all.

The list of games (both exclusive and non) coming out by September is drool-worthy. The list of games planned for the PS3 in 2009/10 is quite sickening.

Have to say, The Gash has been mighty convincing on this topic. Luckily i'm not getting either machine till autumn time at the earliest so have plenty of time to think (for some reason Star Wars Force Unleashed is the thing that is gonna force me to buy a machine) or perhaps when PS3 gets a meaty price drop...it will happen by xmas at least in all likelihood.

Plus PS3 will get the ico/colossus sequel. Other than that there aint much i need to have in regards to exclusives. If i hadn't had a chipped PS2 i dont think there are many games i ever woulda bought tbh.

nothing 'wrong' with 360s but they don't feel as well made, you have to pay for online play and they're made by microsoft

if i had the money i'd get a ps3 because i have more respect for sony as a company, and the control pads are 10x nicer than the 360

nice one, quality title. still listen to the soundtrack to this day. hope you can find ico for a good price at some point. like a fool i sold my limited edition copy many years ago. ico ftw.
