Right, see you point. However, for me at least, it will take quite some time as I am not just boucing but mixing it analogue too (therefore need to record each and every version).
But at one point some years ago (with regard to the F.U.K.T remix I did) I started to afterwardds add some speak-n-spell samples spelling the name of each DJ. Might have to do that again.

You would have to master each version seperatly (or pay someone to do it)...Not really an option unless you have lots of time or money...I suppose you could add a glitch on afterwards....

I think it sounds perfect with the dj's name on top of it somewhere... It makes it even more special for the dj, and it can be put on top of the final mix pretty simple without having to master it agian, I should think... and then it should be real obvious who's been sharing it..

myspace is fucked for music promotion anyway. read the small print, music posted up on myspace doesn't belong to you, it belongs to rupert murdoch.

secondly, if you want to promote your music, if you can, set up a web page with a flash mp3 player (looks better than the one on myspace) and stream your tracks from that. this won't allow people to download. although, i know there are methods to do so, at least this way you're minimising your chances of getting ripped.

only send out your music, digitally watermarked to labels and/or dj's.

but in all honesty, you cannot 100% prevent your music from getting into the wrong hands. keep it close to you.

Firstly, anything with Flash is crap. It messes up the internet, and it's just rubbish.

Secondly, just put up 96kbps mp3's. They're more than enough for people to get an idea of your tunes, but no-one will want to play them on a soundsystem because they'll sound crap.

and i agree using your own flash player allows for a lot more flexibility and choice as to how you put stuff up and how good it sounds.

back to the main topic, what i find rather annoying is that people seem to have no class when it comes to respecting the artists who are giving out promos.

i get a lot of promo mp3s from techno artists, and while i have the ok to play them, they are in a no shares folder and that doesn't get touched by anyone other than me. i too, have shared my own tracks with people and asked them not to share, but i still see them in places like slsk. is it annoying? a little bit. but it gets my name out and more people hear my tracks, so it's kind of a 50/50 situation.

i will even go so far as to say i have a few promo dubs that i prolly shouldn't have either. but my rule is, those do not get played out until they are released and i can buy them. they get played on my iPod, but never in a dj set. period. it's disrespectful and shitty, and i don't understand why more people can't maintain at least a modicum of respect and put some limitations on themselves.

i think tho, that this is the inevitable result of the brand-new-tracks-all-the-time/dubplate mentality. if, for the most part, only people who have dubplates can get the major gigs, then people seem to do anything they can to get their hands on dubs, whereas i would rather concentrate on the quality of my djing and let that do the talking. dubs are great, but a good dj can take released tracks and make it rock.

that sucks alot bro. how did you find out? were they selling it , hosting it or just some dumbszz with kaza or something?

I tell you, Ive been really reaching out hard to cats for tunes to press up on dub but its been hard, many people will not share because of this same reason. sucks for us out here in the states trying to get new tunes, as it is - takes a year for a record to come out, by then its played out in the UK.

what ever - I say just beat the crap out of the guy, and stay you.

Totally see where you're coming from. I'm the same with all the tunes I pick up from the BOA forum... Never, ever play them out without asking the producer if it's OK - which, I might add, they usually are.

Sorry to hear that JJ ... I found some of my old dnb tracks on a filesharing program about a year ago.. Taught me a lesson, i now only give to people i know or can trust...
