Hey bro, where could i hear this 7 samurai? sounds interesting.

quidz, do you mean the horn sounds in 9 samurai? they are off Akira Kurosoawa's film 'seven samurai' (1954), which was the origianl inspiration for 'magnificent seven' (sturges, 1960). seven samurai is quality, but very long, about 3 hours.

hey it's not dubstep... it's hyperdub :) kode9 said it so himself ;)

anyways, that's the best album the genre has produced. I'd go as far as to say I like it more than I like Burial's stuff, although it made less of a stir. I don't know how it could be considered "lifeless" really...

yeah too right bunzero, as kode9 said himself:

'Well although the core of the scene is pretty tight, there is certainly a insurgence of people that I feel no musical or intellectual affinity too. I'm not particularly interested in playing the contrarian or reacting against conventions. I would rather just do my thing. It's just a position I've ended up in by default because a small part of the new wave of dubstep audience, with their false impression that because they express their every spasm on an internet forum, think they're pushing the scene forward, can sometimes put me off the scene as a whole. While I'm still involved in this music, they can fuck off. [laughs]'

Exactly man! Just cos it ain't brock out wobbler shit don't mean it's not dubstep! MOTF is a classic! Deep deep riddims!

ursditsky wrote:ha, I've listened to MOTF a few more times and have to admit there are potent signs of life that i didn't notice the first time through. i agree with all the comments about the irrelevance of whether or not the album can be accurately labeled as dubstep, in the end, each creation is it's own mini-genre anyway. i'd still say the music is too dark and sparse for my liking, but the more i listen to it the less empty it sounds.
see thats character. I was starting to wonder why you started the thread in the first place, but now you've given the album some more time to sink in and turns out you werent afraid to adapt your opinion. whether you love this album or not, it doesnt matter, you're LISTENING and giving music the time it deserves which is great..
