Probably the unpassable terrain on the edge of the earth - like in a computer game.
You cannot pass this unless you enable noclip mode.

badger wrote:that's a really interesting read. i already knew about flat earthers from doing a level religious studies and was under the impression that the argument for it was purely bibical due to a quote in the bible that refers to "the four corners of the earth" meaning that it must be flat; but that article seems to suggest otherwise. it made far more sense that flat earth theory was based on christian fundamentalists blindly accepting a mis-quoted passage from the bible than it being a secular theory. it's just mind boggling to think that people can still believe it
Here is something that might blow your mind. Psalms 103 verse 12 "As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us."
That would suggest that the world IS round because the first part is illustrating that there is an infinite amount of space between the east and west since if you keep going east you will just keep going east and never reach the west. It wouldn't make sense any other way. If you said as far as the north is from the south it wouldn't work either as if you keep going north eventually you will be going south.

Next time youre by the coast, take a ruler and place it in front of your eyes so it "rests" on the sea horizon. You can see the curvature as it dips at either end of the ruler!

to be honest, that doesn't really show curvature, it just shows slant to me.
fair enough, you might have better eyes than me

there's curvature as well as slant, but that doesn't really mean anything. it's just a result of the particular lens + camera setup.
(not a flat earther; not now, not ever.)

this isn't proof that rosegarden in helsinki is almost spherical (it isn't), but just that someone's used a really wide-angle lens.
put it this way, you're trying to project a panorama on to something flat. if you want a 4:3 image at the end of it, distortion ensues.

The iceberg isnt curved though, so how do you explain that?
