you guys gotta stop thinking in terms of genres . Indie music isnt gonna go anywhere because as far as genres go its pretty loose. indie stands for independent . as long as small labels exist, indie aint going anywhere. matter of fact , every single dubstep label that exists could be called "indie" because its not owned by Sony or Universal .
genres dont actually exist . just bands. and musicians

Nu metal pissed me off: seeing Cyprus Hill at glastonbury 2000 alongside a bunch of stnuc thrashing away on guitars was not a good look.
It was a nice bit of rebranding at best, earned the record companies a bit of money which they then spent on taking Napster et al to court for downloading that shite in the first place.
Iron Maiden or stfu
Anything with 'Nu' as a prefix is an automatic fail imho.

I know what indie stands for but everyone has to admit because even labels are pushing all this latest tosh off as solely 'indie'.

SOAD were never 'nu metal' nor were Deftones, both of these were and in Deftones' case, still are decent bands. System are in a genre of their own if you will insist on classifying everything into genres. But in the answer to your question, yer it's pretty much been dead and buried since 2005...

If ever it comes to pass that I may vote on the BEST and WORST musical styles ever to have exisited... Nu-Metal and rap-metal or any sort of shit like that will immediately be the subject of 8-10 page dissertations on why American consumer culture breeds inneptitude and flagrantly annoying ballooned self worth in the lives of scab American males who identify with this type of "ME TOO!" sludge.
I fucking HATE this music. And will gladly punch in the face anyone who likes it..... Unless they are willing to share a bowl, and listen to Sonic Youth and Lee Perry for an hour and let me drive off to then fuck their ugly girlfriends in the ass.
Under which circumstance I may proceed to negate and belittle the entirity of their sub-middle class American struggles (whilst pulling out and forcing myself in to said girlfriends' ass) with a classic ONE-TWO punch to their glass fucking jaws, and seek out so-cal jews to get high with.
