my little secret is that i edit it all to make it work, as far as speed goes.

Listened to it last night and thought something funny was going on with the tunes.
Was a nice mix still.

well, i don't pitch em up. i just warp em in ableton and render them at a bit higher speed. some songs it won't work with at all. some it does. i just have to make a judgement call sometimes.

thought so:)
I was scratching my head thinking how did you mix x with x cos I know they are too slow for that!
Did you warp then tunes then save them to mix on CDs? Sure I rem hearing some movement with the tunes but I may be wrong.

whatever editing you do with the tunes, you do it well and it just shows that digital djing is the step forward. always love your mixes even though I never used to be a techno head. big up shiva, keep up the good work!

nah...these are all live ableton mixes. i do sometimes render em and play em on cd or serato if i am in the mood to do the old fashioned way, though.
but i started using ableton about 2.5 years ago when i realized that i really wanted to edit and rearrange things because i didn't necessarily feel the need to stick to the compositions that the original producers did anymore(i know i know...i am a picky fucker). still a techno dj at heart, and, honestly, i don't always like how dubstep tunes are composed. LOL
for the record (pun intended), all of my ableton mixes are done live, on the fly, picking tunes as i go, using loops and effects and a midi controller to play with knobs and sliders and such. i feel some stupid need to justify all that since so many people think all you do is push a button and ableton does it all for you.

Thats because there are so many people who do Ableton mixes but it takes them about 4 hours to make lol.
In this mix it sounds like you loop the last couple of bars on a few of the tunes, is that right?

i do some looping of the bars, sometimes i break em up into various sections and reorder them. just depends upon my mood really.

Handy with a few of them Techno records! I have a struggle with a few of them on 12" so would be cool to have a locked groove

i highly recommend "glass house" tho. it is still one of my favorites!
