Not really off the topic. Ableton could replace FS1.5 just as well. But you can't get that slipage due to human error that everyone all of a sudden loves. 5 years ago we would say the dj is sloppy now it's warm sounding LOL

I am bored don't mind me.

If you're using Ableton properly, you can still mess up pretty easily every now and then... like if you're really taking things apart and reassembling them. I don't consider that to be DJing in a traditional sense, but I think it moves into more of a production/live performance artist... it really depends what you are doing and at what level. I guess some people have that affection with contacting something tangible when they spend their money. I can relate.

I like digital for the things it can do that analogue cannot. Almost everything can be simulated, down to vinyl crackle... nobody would notice. Technically there is a difference, but nobody but dogs and whales could hear that.

even my mum says ableton users are wasteman.

regardless. i'v bought final scratch 2 now. simpy because all i wanted was low latency and to be able to spin at 45, no real need for fancy effects. and it was less than half the price of serato and traktor scratch.

i win. thanks for all your help!

Torq works great for me so far. The VST support and onboard FX (especially repeater, for live stutters) works pretty damn will with midi.

Haven't had an issue with stability thus far.

IIRC, Torq does not yet slave to MIDI clock...That is a feature for future release :D

...after this Torq WILL kick the shit out of everything else on the market...

Torq 1.5 Key Features

* Tempo Anchors allow marking tracks with varying tempos—Torq’s effects and samples follow the tempo changes in the song
* Tempo Master assigns a playing track to serve as the master tempo source for all tempo-related functions
* Plane Elastique time-stretching/compression technology for sophisticated beat matching and pitch alteration
* Transmit/receive MIDI beat clock for sync with other hardware/software and easy switching between DJs
* Hide Mixer option conserves screen space
* Preview songs in headphones before loading to deck
* New Toolbar buttons and MIDI/tempo indicators
* Skip Protection keeps the music playing even if the Control Vinyl or CD skips
* True Key Lock keeps the pitch constant when adjusting external turntable speed
* Internal effects can be grouped into Effects Chains
* VST effects synchronize with tempo of playing deck
* Auto Gain feature matches the gain levels between decks
* Additional workflow and interface refinements enhance user experience

Since I stumbled upon this thread......I bought Torq a few weeks back & LOVE it. Super cool software, and once I figured out how to incorporate it into my system, with the proper weight on the carts & such it has been super cool. I especially love it since I get a discount through them; 40% off made the purchase painless 8)

Torq DOES now support 45RPM vinyl, but it requires new Ms Pinky time encoded plates, which will run you about $100 USD:

... i have made a bit of a different experience. i used to use torq and was quite fond of it.
out of the box it sucks... but after investing some time by reading the forums and applying a few tricks here and there it becomes a very good program.... through the ability to change config files you are able to adjust torq to ur needs much more than any other dvs system out there... for example you can set the accuracy so exact, that you can even see the speed alterations inflicted by the turntable....

but afterall i also made some pretty bad experiences with it. for home use its okay, but for a club gig will never use it again! the phono preamps just suck, so you can`t really play vinyl or swap with a dj without having to unplug all the shit first. the programm is too new and´therefore has to many faults... it even crashed on me once in a club :-( its ´very sensitiv to not so good parts, catridges, etc in the clubs, and you don`t always know why it doesn`t work properly.... and most of all: the sound of that thing is not very good... only 16 bit

i only use WAV though, cause i hate mp3 especially for dubstep!!!!!

i have a traktor skratch now, and am so much more happy with it!
the soundcard is top with a big sound (even compared to much much more expensive soundcards) conectiv just seems like a toy compared to it. not only the looks but also the sound! and its fucking stable!
with the audio8 i have enough inputs and outputs to have ableton running alongside and play synth parts or samples during my mixes.... or record them into live. conectiv could never run torq and ableton live at the same time.

ovrall for me traktor sktrach is a much much more sophisticated system compared to torq....

but thats just in my opinion anyway

i also got very intrigued by torq features.... but i`d rather have less features but a stable programm...

most the features of torq don`t work properly... and i doubt that 1.5 is suddenly gonna fix all issues... they should fix their stuff before introducing so many new gadgets.... and i will have to pay for the update?

whoever lives in germany and wants to buy my torq (in mint condition) can pm me.......

Torq has been stable for myself and my friends that have it. For the people that purchased Torq after April (i think) of this year the 1.5 upgrade is free.

stable at home, but not at a fucked up venue in front of hundreds of people ;-)

the last update they gave out was even more faulty than the previous version, so they had to take it back... it will take them years before they are at serato / scratch level.... torq is nice, but don´t get fooled into thinking that its as much of a professional system as serato or traktor

talking about dvs..... i think the best solution at the moment would be a rme card with mixvibes

Hrm, interesting. I have never played out with it, so I will hope for the best when I go for it. I will of course have CD's, a jump drive, and some wax as a backup. It's always good to have backups just in case no matter what you play.

don´t forget to bring cartridges/ needles and something to clean the inside of the tonearm.... a cigarette filter can do the job or better one of those pencils with the rubber at the end.....

u should be okay if your system and playlist and so on are ´tidy´... but if it starts behaving funny, i would first of all check the cartridges and the contacts in the tonearm

oh... and those multi cables from traktor scratch are also very usefull for the conectiv... when u use them, u can avoid the shitty phono preamps of the conectiv, and play vinyl with everything conected even if the computer crashes and the conectiv doesn´t have power no more.... very important if something goes wrong

I've been using Torq for a few months and it seems great. I'm planning on playing out with it this month as a tester, can't wait.

I always bring the ortofon's, gruv glide, extra RCA's,and a pencil to clean the inside of the tone arm with (eraser) you never know what you'll need.

I realized straight away that Torq is very sensitive to the cart's & cables. I was frustrated to no end the first day I had it, until I realized that one of my carts was slightly loose which was no problem with vinyl, but Torq refused to play correctly out of that deck until I finally figured out what it was.

That is highway robbery. I guess you are paying for the mspinky software as well? Still I need new vinyls, I may be looking into this.

Yeah a couple sets of Y cables will work too. The pre's in the connectiv do suck. I try to stick to one format when playing live but I still bring the wax just in case and often times I do need it. The problems I have are always due to either the computer or turntables not Torq. I guess Traktor can still sync with only one channel working? If so I guess it is worth the extra dough.
