big

is it fair to say that 'content' in that sense actually emanates from the listener?

I think they sound pretty damn Tech-House-Ish in places they remind me of some Detriot techno as well. They have that warm soulful funkyness to them. They are taking it in a more bass driven dubstep direction of course but I can hear it in the sound.

nice article as always, but yeah, Silkie & Quest don't sound at all like the standard tech-house sound of the past 5 years or so. :?

i didn't say (the mighty) Silikie and Quest were tech-house, I'm saying in a dubstep context, their style is quite tracky, and techno/house-influenced. Being bassy, in dubstep context, pretty much goes without saying!

Martin you are probably saying about Silkie's and Quest's recent stuff ( refer to generation bass set for e.g.) in the context of techy/house etc. I think people are getting confused since the older tunes like hardfood, i sed, stand, forever are pure dub and reggae influenced.

Am I right?

You dont think Stand and Forever are techy or housey? Forever (a total classic) is pure epic sunset Ibiza!

"Stand" sounds a lot like 2002 progressive house to me, with its tribal drums and that "ethnic" trancey breakdown...
