I've got traktor and never really got to learn it due to my impatience and the fact that i have turntables 3 inches to the right of my computer which is always more inticing for mixing. I have learnt how to use the bpm but what i don't like is having to click the play button on time, im guessing you can set cuepoints for each track but and they go automatically but haven't figured it out yet :? My mates brother has connected it to a midi controller thing, is there any other way of controlling it, is final scratch a vinyl emulator to control mp3's?

Keep vinyl alive!

i think im going to get serato scratch so i can play out on the radio etc using my own and other people's tunes without cutting to dub

however, i have spoken to various people, and they say that the problem with serato scratch is that a lot of the mp3s you will play will be unmastered, and the sound quality will be inferior. i think i agree with this.

if you're willing to do a bit of mastering and limiting yourself then you can overcome this, obviously its not ideal but then if you want to play the freshest stuff around then it needs to be done

Bit off a dark art though, isn't it. If you just want to push the level up it's piss, but to do it propelly takes time and talant.

Squash that fucker raw.

I'm into Denon DN-S3500!
http://www.denondj.com/prodview_item.asp?pid=56&cid=1

Spining platter with direct drive motor, effects, sampler...
Many people find it better than CDJ-1000 and it has very affordable price.

how is this a problem wif serato? if the mixdown is done properly, then additional limiting/compression should not be necessary, and eq adjustments can be made on-the-fly wif your mixer - that's what it's for!

i've used cdjs of all sorts, final scratch, and serato... and serato beats em all if ur a seasoned vinyl dj wanting to play digital. if ur new to djing, might as well get cdjs (pioneer - forget anything less than the 800s, and the technics cdj imo feels wonky and responds oddly compared to hi-end pioneer and denon). of course, u'll still need a turntable to rip those vinyl-only brandnew dubstep releases. ;)

Bought a pair of CDJ-800's recently and they are the mutts. Definitely recommended.
