this thread reminded me to save what i've been working on.
i love the "ableton closed without saving the project whatever.als, would you like to revert to what you were working on?"
or whatever it says.
saved my ass many times.

Cubase automatically saves a backup for you. I manually save myself all the time too, especially before opening up new VST's cos otherwise cubase makes me look like a derrkhead.

crtl s (or command s) is like blinking for me. Especially when I do something significant.

Thats killer..
What happened to me once was...
I woke up at like 6am and had the sickest idea for a tune, spent 2 hours making the lead sounding just how I envisioned it..Put down some drums with EQing and stuff..
Another hour gone..
Started to arrange it, added bass, some pads and "swoosh" stuff to keep it interesting.. a few more hours gone by this time its about 2-4 in the afternoon
So about 8-10 hours go by - with the odd coffee break and I was so locked onto this tune I forgot to save..
Someone rings the doorbell & someone else answers, its the electrician.. He goes and switches off the power without telling anyone in the house and boom.....
One of my favourite tunes ive ever done - just a memory

You guys know about this?
You spend 5-6 hours on the drums & bassline, just a 4 or 8 bar loop, getting everything swinging nicely, eq'ing, sidechaning, compressing etc.
You make a small 32 bar intro. Then you save the beat and do something else. You come back to the beat a few hours later and expand it for another 5-6 hours, fleshing it out and getting the arrangement sounding good, perhaps another 32. The beat needs another 10 hours or so and it'll be ready, you've got that good feeling.. you like the beat and want to get it finished. Then.... suddenly..... the software crashes. You have to go all the way back to that first 4 bar loop you made, and no matter how hard you try, you've lost it. The feeling that the beat had is gone.. and there is only one destination for the loop - the recycle bin.

Need to get in the habit of hitting CTRL + S loads, my daw used to crash quite often cause of my shite computer so trained myself in that habit.
