gotta throw in my 2 cents on ableton live.

Ableton live is a good suggestion. I'd recommend that or getting cubase sx, hook up your mpc via midi to you computer so you can sequence midi on cubase and have it play off of your mpc.
Reason is fun to play with but sounds like shit if you do too much processing in it.
