Technics SL-1210MK5
Simple. Not cheap really but like everyone says, they will last past the point where you still want them.

plus, if u end up not wanting to dj anymore, you will always be able to re-sell them and get your money back.
yeah looks like technics is the way to go. My problem will be getting some for a decent price.
yeah just be patient... check ebay, craigslist, pawn shops, etc... sooner or later someone will def be trying to part w/ them for not much... ive seen pairs in the states go for $400, $450 which isnt too bad.

well as a first set of decks and with the mixer and vinyl it was a good deal. i would much rather have numarks or technics.
I have mixed with both soundlabs and technics, but i didn't notice too much difference? is it just that technics last a lot longer and look nicer?

hmmm, thats strange, the difference has always seemed staggering to me. Maybe cheap direct drives are getting better.

having used ddd's cheap direct drives i can confirm that the difference definitely is staggering. honestly it's like using belt drives: one touch and they either speed up stupidly or grind to a halt

Im ordering a Numark Total Control at the end of the month. Using a M-audio Trigger Finger at the minute, I'v gone totally digital.

hey hey.. coincidence, i picked up a pair of used pdx2000's just this past week, WITH flight cases, new needles, etc, $600 Canadian, couldn't pass up that deal. and yeah, i like them. I could see why they were all the rage a few years ago, point well taken when i plugged them in, heh. The pitch possibilities is all you ever wanted on the deck, reallly smooth, doesn't matter if its on 33 OR 45rpm, you can still get the same pitch either speed with the ultra pitch adjustment, seriously blows the tiny range Technics pitch limitations off the block for sure. Versatility, and making em worth the investment.
vestax decks.. i can believe the hype. now heh
i'm a happy lad.

p.s.
but i still realise i'll never be the Vestax poster boys like Craze OR Mixmaster Mike.
but I digress..

great decks, love em' and if they got stolen, house burned down...i buy another set immediatley!
They are amazing decks. I got a chance to use them when I played a set recently and I don't think I've ever played out so well
I personally wouldn't have wanted them for my first decks though. The smooth platter and bpm counter makes it far too easy to beat match. And if your learning then it might not work in your favour if you have to play out on other decks if you get me?
They are expensive but if your serious about getting into it I'd save up and get some Technics. If you get anything cheaper your only going to want to upgrade which will make it more expensive in the long run.
