so many other people to listen to. he is not the worst person calling himself 'hiphop' now days but certainly in the bottom half. Rhymes are simple & not put to the beat well at all. beats are childish & very mainstream = not innovative at all. listen to J Dilla, RZA, Ghostface, Doom. To be fair i have owned a couple lil wayne & cash money cds but from back in the day. But there is really so much that is far better now that gets less respect because people like lil wayne & kanye are so popular. their sudden rise in talent can be attributed to fucking great marketing & little else. the mainstream style & subpar talent definitely has it's place but respect should be given only where due. peace

Yeah, what about him? I know he's always been a "mentor" to Wayne (I do know my hip-hop..) but I still don't understand how Wayne got to be at the point where Kanye calls himself the greatest rapper alive, and Wayne is the only one who can match him.
(..actually, when you
actually think about that statement neither part makes any sense at all really.)
500 Degreez
^^ I used to get down to "Way Of Life". Wayne third verse (think it's the third..) is siiiick.
"And we don't stop, nah we go
Fuck the peepow!
Every we go we smell like ee-yo"

Friend of mine kept ranting to me about how good lil wayne was, listened to some of his stuff.
Now i don't talk to her much.... coincidence?
Flying Lotus Remix of A Milli is amazing but mostly in spite of the vocal.
Oh and can someone explain what the guitar thing is about? I've seen him on youtube and that, seems like a really feeble attempt to cash in on people who get antsy about "real instruments" etc
