RNC's are really dependable gear, for sure... but i got rid of 'em because they behaved like good compressor plug-ins, logic's included compressor in general; basically, really simple compression of the on-or-off variety. not particularly transparent, but not grimey either. i know some folks who love 'em-- i think they just weren't for me.

actually, come to think of it, i liked the super nice mode on some female vox. never dug it for track material tho.

w/ that said it's a fantastic bit of kit to really learn compression on, since it's superfast you can really hear the changes in attack, etc.

How about the chameleon labs mix bus compressor? I havent personally used one but Ive heard they're great for the money.

I've not used that particular compressor, but the other Chameleon Labs stuff I have used is very good :) The preamp/3band eq Neve rip off is good (7602 is it?)... Heard good things about that comp too.
