Waves :|

Have you heard V-Maxx?
Sorry, V-Maxx?

I've tried Maxx Bass, MaxxVolume, Ultramaximisers by the bucketload, Max Planck, Max Bygraves and Max Hardcore German Action. They were all :|, some more than others.

But I don't think I've tried VMaxx. Is this their latest one then?

I've tried the V-Comp and V-EQs, but they were 'vintage' ones, not limiters. And they still got beat by UADs equivalents (really badly with the compressor tbh). Is it one of this series?

I've never tried any of UAD's plugs so I can't really compare however Waves *V-Comp (don't know where I got V-Maxx from) sounds pretty amazing. think it's a good year or two old, definitely worth a look see.

Yep - it's a 2254/33609 emulation. And UAD's 33609 beats the pants off it, sorry.

I did extensive listening tests when the V series came out. The eqs came off not bad in comparison to the equivalent UADs, but UAD had a degree of smoothness and class that the Waves didn't. The compressor, however, sounded mushy next to the 'punch your teeth out' UAD 33609, that was much more clear cut. Still a decent plugin though :)

No need to apologise, as I've said; I haven't had the pleasure of using UAD plugins. Tbh I guess it's to be expected from something that runs on a dedicated dsp chip.

They did, the APA thing. It was shit and has been discontinued I believe.

At the prices they charge you could get 1000 UADs, and they know their stuff isn't as good as UAD anyway...
