microkorg.
but... a sine wave is a sine wave. seriously. not a lot of mathematics to generate there. logic's exs24 w/ no setting generates a great sine wave, just make it monophonic and turn it up and yt set.

micron is great as well
always thought it was under rated next to microkorg especially for pads and atmospherics
plus the filer bank is insane

this is actually a pretty retarded thread
take any synthesizer, and set it to a sine with no settings, and you have a pure sine, thats why its a synthesizer, because it synthesizes sound waves, lol, plus these are software synths we are talking about, so they are incredibly precise, not like analog

i thought sine is a function with fixed values and that explains the no hamonics so any sine is going to be the same unless noise is purposely mixed somewhere
jesus man program a synth

FYI, 90-95% of digital oscillators use a wavetable to generate their waveforms, not a function, which uses too many cycles in most cases vs the benefits of mathematically deriving them. But even then, a wavetable of a sine is far closer to a clean pure wave than any analog waveshaping technique. You only need purity for lab tests, not for music.

In my experience nothing works as well as the sinewaves generated from ie) cooledit dropped into a sampler. I don't care what you say - nothing moves a sub like this.

'dmu sinus' is a freeware vsti that doesn't seem to be floating about anymore but it's so sick. Perfect for creating sub.
If you use a PC I'll up the .dll for you as it doesn't require installation.

That's all well and good when you're talking about analogue hardware, but digital stuff approximates the sine curve (after all, you need infinite resolution to get a true sine)... different VSTs/Analogue Modelling synths will produce their sines in slightly different ways, leading to a very slightly different sound.
Listen to the sines from Massive and then listen to them from another synth... there's a big difference (Massive ones are really unclean!).

yep, choose a sampler that has a nice and easy envelope section (volume and pitch) and you're away. I use ableton simpler, it's ace for this (also if it's set up right you won't get any distortion even if you use a radically different pitch from the source).
@all those ridiculing: this isn't a stupid question at all, I have noticed a distinct difference between many synth's supposedly clean sine waves, besides which, it's worth finding the time to find the right plugin to quickly set up all the envelope and glide settings you need.

why bash people who want to learn?
sinewaves are also well handy for trouble shooting/checking headphones/room acoustics and all sorts, and all the other test tones (eg pink/white noise)
the akai sine test tone was used in loads of old jungle.

If you could upload it somewhere that would be much appreciated
Can't find it anywhere like you said, it seems to have disappeared completely.

Not true.
A sine wave at 50Hz in Albino3 (however much you compress it) will not sound as good as a sine at 50Hz produced on Logic Pro 8's Tone Oscillator.
...Put that sine wave through an SLR desk with the compressor on then maybe.

i will stick to 3xOSC, perfect sine, every time, and almost no CPU

Is it right?
a sine wave is a transverse wave, which means it stretches wider and thinner. the image of a sine wave is just a way of representing it on a graph (longitudinal) which is why alot of people get confused. thats why its called an oscillator, it literally oscillates around a single point, which is the x axis. a guitar string is actually an an oscillator!
read this, you can explain it with a slinky
