sorry but have none of you used stanton 150s?
every pair of stanton decks i have used have been wank. No competition. Altho i do like vestax, and stanton make good scratch mixers.
really??
even though i think the stanton is a better deck, i do wish i had got technics, just cos they use them in every club, and for some reason i find it difficult to mix on technics after being used to Stanton (probably just in my head)
so im probably going to end up selling and buying on ebay in the near future!

Sure both might be similar with the amount of torque and pitch hold, though I personally believe the technics to outperform in both. Keep in mind that technics are the industry standard and always will be. I have yet to play in any legitimate club that had anything other than technics decks. It's best to learn on what you will be playing on unless you plan on taking your decks to ever show with you.
sorry mate but you are so wrong. str8150 have almost 3x the amount of torque and hold pitch so much better. also the fact that the pitch only goes to 8% is quite limiting when try to mix different genres/speeds. the only time i ever play on technics is at parties and i have no problem using them but would never even dream of trading my str8150s for technics. i think blaming the decks is a bad excuse for being a bad dj

The Stantons have a better motor, more pitch control, greater torque, faster start/stop time etc. But they haven't been proved playing non stop for 10/15 years with easily aquired, cheap replacements that pretty much any muppet could fit when in a squeeze. Technics for a reason.

Time will tell though...

I say times have already told. They have barely changed the 1210/00 Mk2's since the 80's! Think of them as the stratocaster of guitars
lol, I meant time will tell if the Stanton's can stand the test of time. But yeah some Technics SL1200 have stood 20+years of active service with little or no major complaints apart from the obligatory broken cue lamp. As I said: Technics for a reason

When I got into DJing 10 years ago I couldn't afford decent decks, so I picked up a pair of second hand direct drive soundlabs. I thought that they were awesome until I had a play on some 1210's, and they weren't even on the same level. I find that cheaper decks tend not to hold the tempo steady making it a complete pain in the ass sometimes as you keep having to make minute adjustments to your mix and it causes a lot more hassle than it's worth.

I don't have any experience with the ones that you have linked, but like many people here, I'd just recommend holding tight and saving up for a couple of decent decks; you definitely won't regret it.

I have never seen a Dj needing more than +10/-10. Unless your serious about mashing your tracks
im often mixing above 10%, but no more above 15%, unless im just pissing around
heres a neat trick you can do on a stanton that you cant do on a technics:
put skream and cluekid sandsnake on
put the rpm to 75
put the pitch shift to +%50
now its sounds like some proper mad jungle tune!
well sort of

technics only got so big because they patented the motor meaning they were the best for the 25 years that the patent lasted for because other manufactorers had to design them differently or pay technics royalties.

as for saying they are the best because they will last is like saying a wheel made of stone is better than a modern wheel because the stone wheel wont get a puncture and yes you are right technics have stood the test of time but str8150s havent been around long enough to tell.

i guess we will have to have this discussion in 20 years
