grit = high frequency content = square, sawtooth wave / distortion

have a mess around with distortion and using different layers of it

i dont get it.....why dus every1 seem to call all mid range bass's in dubstep"wobble"? i dont hear a wobble in floor dem or the main bass of if ya cant beat em.....and like...things like pro nails by rusko...is that wobble? i always thought wobble was like....Caspa - Rubber chicken. or have i just gt it rong.? :|

To answer the original question:

Clipping distortion, bit rate reducers, and oscillators with lots of harmonics give out that abrassive bass sound your after.

Try sticking your bass sound through Mb Crushy distortion vst for 'brick in ya face' results ;)

(PM me and I'll send you the .dll if you like)

You damn kids are going to make me read every thread on here regardless of subject title aren't you? I don't read that many forums but it is pretty sad I don't even know what is going on in the dubstep production forum.
