Attenborough the "Life" series.

Fucking amazing. I've probably watched almost all of these on TV at some point, but I've been slowly buying them all on DVD for the last couple of years.

Life In The Undergrowth is amazing. I just started the Secret Life Of Plants....

there was a 3 part series on BBC2 about US/UK relations with Iran which was literally the most mindboggling thing i've ever seen. the level of fucking stupidity it reveals amongst the top levels of government is fucking terrifying

they're not on iplayer, but search for "iran.and.the.west.part1.ws.pdtv.xvid-remax.avi (replace part1 with 2 or 3 etc) on your ARRRR port of choice.

they're not really going to float your boat if you believe in global lizard conspiracies

The Bulletproof Salesman

True story of a German arms dealer / car seller, who uses conflict zones as an opportunity for business. Capitalism at it's most gruesome and ruthless, his products are bettered by people dying and he has no problem with that. He's a strange bloke, utterly ruthless, heartless and rancid but very charismatic, intelligent and passionate about 'his' cars at the same time. It's more of a monologue than a traditional documentary but still very good.

It is on BBC 4 now and you can watch it on iPlayer and you can watch it here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... _Salesman/

This disturbing film had its World Premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX. It is a troubling film about a man who makes it his business to make money as a war profiteer and is proud of it. German war profiteer Fidelis Cloer clearly enjoys his work selling armored cars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a microcosm of the capitalist system. He exists to make money and war is simply an extension of business to him. He wants to make the best product and sell it and thus protect his clients. He doesn't seem to care that his products are used as part of a war machine. He seems to have no political conscience or concern. He went to Iraq at the beginning of the war in 2003, because he believed things would get worse and there would be an opportunity to profit.

If you want to watch something a little different and what I consider some of the best documentaries ever made, check out the stuff by Adam Curtis. The Power of nightmares is very good, it's also done by the BBC so is probably online somewhere too.
The films compare the rise of the Neo-Conservative movement in the United States and the radical Islamist movement, making comparisons on their origins and claiming similarities between the two. More controversially, it argues that the threat of radical Islamism as a massive, sinister organised force of destruction, specifically in the form of al-Qaeda, is a myth perpetrated by politicians in many countries—and particularly American Neo-Conservatives—in an attempt to unite and inspire their people following the failure of earlier, more utopian ideologies.

The Power of Nightmares has been praised by film critics in both Britain and the United States. Its message and content have also been the subject of various critiques and criticisms from conservatives and progressives.
[/u]

Oh and anything about nature that david attenborough is in. just roll a fat one and enjoy some of the best footage ever shot by man, the bbc is amazing at documentaries but shit at dramas and that.

there's an Adam Curtis megapack that pretty much never disappears from UKNova which is definitely worth nabbing, it's got everything he's done for the BBC (things like Pandora's Box, The Bloomsbury Set, The Power of Nightmares, Whatever Happened To Our Dreams of Freedom)

he tends to retread his own old ground from time to time but it's so well done you can forgive him :D

that Bulletproof Salesman looks great, cheers for that Firky
