america's foreign policy has been consistent for decades- they will do whatever necessary to further their strategic goals

they can dress it up with a 'moral case' such as 'spreading democracy' or removing a despot dictator but they will jump in bed with anyone- they were happy to assist saddam hussein when he was an asset, just as they're happy to knock him down when that will advance their ideology as well......there's not a shred of altruism in any of their foreign policy exercises and i'd respect them a lot more if they admitted it.

a lot of the west's problems in the middle east are due to seeds sown over the past sixty years and shows that such a unilateral strategy cannot really succeed

i don't really believe there's any point in assigning a good/bad to such matters, it's never as black and white as that and each side is also
convinced of their own benevolence and virtue

also al qaeda can't be thought of as an 'organisation', it was created by the usa to allow them to pursue prosecutions against dissident groups of islamic extremists, it is at most an ideology and is nothing like the 'global network of terrorism' we're told it is

I don't agree with what our goverments are doing.. or any governments in the world really.

I'm against war and capitalism and most of all i'm against a state that controls it's people, which we have. Cameras everywhere etc. but I am pro renationalisation/nationalisation of a lot of things.

but really i admit im a bit of a narcissist, and the most important things to me are my happiness and the happiness of family & friends. Oh and music.

I'm happy at this moment and i see no reason to revolt. Yeah this probably exactly what the government was trying to do.. I'm a slave to the system, and one day something will happen that will make me stand up and make my voice heard.. but right now.. i donno the spark just aint there

nope, I don't,
probably cos I've travelled a bit,
including Afghanistan & US
Myanmar & Britain,
Indonesia & Spain.
Despite faults,
much prefer latters' political systems,
which is no reflection
on the people themselves.

Recession creates great opportunity to reduce US military spending
& facedown arms manufacturers in all countries.

Even the US president cannot do it alone,
particularly when opposed by doomsayers.

A first step might be to lobby for
arms-exporting countries to timetable
a conversion of arms manufacturing
to alternative energy and water recycling technologies.

Shortages of fuel and water have been identified as the most probable causes of future conflicts...so how about a bit of proactive peacemaking?

can't be more explicit than that, i guess... let's try: when you see on of those companies/people/products that you know their main purpose is to transfer money or information or control from you to them and you have another choice, go for the other choice, even if you need to compromise a bit, it's a healthy compromise!
i haven' bought colgate, gas or a pack of ciggies in half a year. i go for the small local brands usually. i never legitimize the political system with my vote. and so on...
