I have Serato but you cant beat the feel of a 12" (10 or 7") the artwork or even the feel when you scratch it.

Vinyl! Been DJ'ing like a month or two and loving it. Not loving the endless list of vinyls though ha.

I like my music physical cause mp3's invisable....vinyl all the way. I ended up having to play on cd's mostly though because every where I go to play only has cdj's now no technics. also when im dead broke but want to play the latest tracks i've got no choice but to play cds.

Serato. Hands down. For the last 3 years, never looked back once I got it.

I can download a whole new set before a gig, or play my own tunes that I have just finished that afternoon. The flexibility is what does it for me. I can still play vinyl if needed, or jump on a setup that is (shudder) only CDJs - even if I forget my Serato CDs, I can download and burn new ones on the spot.

To me it feels just like vinyl. When I go back and forth between the two during a set, I notice no difference at all. I scratch, cut, nudge, backspin, etc. just like vinyl.

Never once had a crash during a show that was software related (my iBook is finaly succumbing to the iBook G4 logic board issue and has crashed once during a radio show due to it... ).

As long as you check your files and prepare them (build overviews) ahead of time, the volume difference between vinyl and Serato is negligable if your Serato is properly set up. Bass and sound quality has never really been an issue for me either, Ive rattled windows with mp3s plenty of times .

Costwise, its paid for itself many times over... 1 vinyl = 10 downloads.

Also, the amount of times I have to bring the Serato box with me to gigs is getting less and less... most of the time its already installed in the club, or the promoter has brought it and already set it up. I recently hosted a radio show at which Trillbass, 12th Planet, DLX, EMU, Steady and myself all played... all on Serato.

Vinyl control for sure. Besides all of the obvious advantages, I don't miss looking through my record box. You always forget to pack something. You can't bring enough tunes. Get confused with a shit ton of white labels (seriously whoever started this whitelabel business needs to be strung up). Can't find the sleeve so you have to stick in between records. Can't see shit so you are looking through the box almost blindly. Showing the ass crack off because there is nowhere where you can stick the box up off the ground etc etc. Then you have to be on your game buying vinyl because the good shit sells out blah blah blah. Vinyl control systems are a pain in the ass in their own right don't get me wrong but it's worth it.

Oh yeah another thing I appreciate about "modern" djing is that the sets now are a lot more varied than they used to be. I remember mixing dnb at the weekly back in the day and I would have to guess what the dj's before and or after me was going to play so to avoid playing the same tunes and often times that happened anyway. It is really fantastic that you don't have to hear that one big tune every set every dj every week. Thank you digital age.

definitly vinyl, cant beat the satisfaction and feel. althought ive also got serato still the same BUT i save money from digital downloads and wav files sound just as good
