I treat women the way a tourist on a safari treats lions - I don't understand them and I fear them, but I take photographs through a telephoto lens of them and want to kiss them on their mouths.

True artists dont need feedback and couldn't give a fuck what people say about their shit. Most are so full of themselves they just need the adoring fans to justify their status as true artists. Wannabe artists need to be shown where the kerb is. So they can step to it. I guess the trick is knowing the difference and thats where a good critic comes in.

Me, I much prefer reading a well constructed diss than some adulating fanboy rant and I much prefer writing a good diss too. It doesnt even have to be well constructed either just venting and ranting is its own reward and fuck what anyone else thinks. If you're gonna hold fast to a position though. You need to be able to defend it both ways.

gotta admit this is definitely a genre where so far i haven't come across many "shit" tunes that actually make it to the dance/mix. the people filter all the garbage out why have critics? i think a bunch of failed producers writing about the complexities of a drum pattern is the last thing we need.

the first rule of dubstep is, "you do not talk about dubstep."

Neither, artists need other artists to push to envelope and make them want to catch up. That's how Dubstep is going to progress and evolve: with people pushing boundaries, no matter whether there's critics around to bitch

I would rather have people being openly critical of our tunes than to tell me one thing to my face, and something completely different to their friends. I love good reviews, but I learn from the bad ones.

True. There never seems to be much mention of the competition involved in producing art or the rivalry that exists between artists. In saying that I'd like to see soundclash culture play a role in dubsteps evolution. Hotflush vs Hyperdub anyone ?
