X-ray is a bit different though... he didnt straight sample it, just stole the bassline melody and guitar chug pattern from that certain song (I wanna see if anyone else noticed the song as well).g-man wrote:dude, i noticed the first time i heard it. it's pretty blatant. i could care less though!Dead Rats wrote:This depresses me a bit. this is not the first time a big band has been sampled on Ram. ever heard the tune subfocus- x-ray?
Are you asking for a youtube link to The Number Song?! Dude, I think you just need to buy the album. I thought everyone had Endtroducing?!?!quidz wrote:Could you link me a youtubage please?tercerojista wrote:That's not a hard sample to spot!

Totally.Surface_Tension wrote:If they'd have pressed up 500 copies, broke even and made just a little scratch on the side, I'd have no issues with it whatsoever... they sold mad copies of that release and they made a ton of money without licensing the sample... once you're releasing records that sell on that level I think you have a responsibility to clear a sample.

Blatant sample but its a completly different song over all.... Still smashs the dance every time! Out 2 those wantin bits on vinyl that would b a massive release!
yeah thats what I meang-man wrote:is that what you meant? if so, maybe they are pissed cause they actually paid to use the sample. i dun know.cure wrote:I think its hilarious that chase and status will go ahead a sample/rework a riff from a band as pervasive as metallica, then have the nerve to tell other people they CANNOT use the same sample they have used for eastern jam (see jayou - western jam)...
i never even noticed that song being sampled in the number songtercerojista wrote:Are you asking for a youtube link to The Number Song?! Dude, I think you just need to buy the album. He samples the bassline from Orion. And it's a proper, creative bit of sampling, not like the blatantly obvious lift from Chase & Status...
No, it's not a sample! It's plagiarism.Jolly Wailer wrote:use yr ears ffs.
tacospheros was right..
its not a sample people this thread is useless.
I am not disagreeing necessarily but if we are going to hang chase and status for this then there are a lot of other people waiting on death row. When you have millions of dance tunes that are all based off of one chord each shit is bound to overlap. Having legit morals and being into dance music at the same time is a tough thing to do. I rip shit off all the time. That is what a sampler is for and that is what I use it for. Fuck it. Sue me.tercerojista wrote:No, it's not a sample! It's plagiarism.Jolly Wailer wrote:use yr ears ffs.

Yes, mate. I've always found Metallica to be completely boring metal.Magma wrote:I don't like Metallica.
I like Saxon.
Chase and Status win.
Hello? This is dance music... Its mostly built on illegal unlicensed sampling.Surface_Tension wrote:slap the words illegal and unlicensed in the firstDead Rats wrote:We had an argument about this not too long back in SNH, and I think the settled-upon conclusion was 'Sampling'.
