i absolutely and utterly refuse to get on twitter, man. facebook is a perfectly adequate tool for keeping in contact with people, and thats all i want from social networking sites. if i want news, theres plenty of other ways to get it

alot of people said they didnt like cell phones, being able to be reached anytime anywhere

i was skeptical; now i really like it. It's all about following folks who have useful and/or interesting things to say. Hyperlinking is great as well-- it's a really economical way to reach, and be reached by, a bunch of interesting people all at once.

if it's used well. If not, then yeah, you've also got a tool that will let you know that jessica simpson fed her dog this morning.

Basically it's up to you how you want to use it. It's great for replacing RSS feeds, as someone else mentioned, and it's yet another way to have real-time interaction.

might i recommend this thread: http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=53055

i express my opinion in there but essentially i find it useless, except for people that don't know what RSS is (or blog readers).

@ whoever made the cell phone comment i would say that the functionality twitter presents is no different than that provided already by a cell phone via mass texting, it just has a handy interface. i'm sure people will use it and it is obviously catching on. the question then becomes: for better or for worse?

Ummmm no one says anything important on Twitter you might be missing the point

I was pretty skeptical like the rest of you but I dig it. Not for everyone for sure but I'll use every tool in the arsenal to promote my label. Whatever it takes. I don't just promote the label tho I don't think people want to follow you just to get a 247 advertisement so I do the twitter thing like everyone else on there. If anyone is interested look me up my info is down there in the sig.

That is all well and good and I wouldn't argue any of that but the fact remains that it is very popular right now and because of that it is an effective networking tool imo.

yes i agree - contemplated joining myself :)

i enjoy thinking about it from a sociological perspective, like what it means for society to communicate in that manner. i dunno my brain gets into things like this...

the trick is to be highly selective about who you decide to Follow...
(and you can opt to 'Unfollow' some indulgent bore in a moment..)
cut the crap and get to the gold..
you don't need to watch the stuff you don't like..

Westwood is pure comedy.. (as Ramadanman pointed out to me)
Joe Muggs posts regular links about v. interesting new music..

it's a great resource you want any kind of random question answered..
eg: i found out that it was possible to visit CERN and got a link to the booking form via Twitter!!

i've also found a lot of links to great blogs, music and art up there..
such as this African gas-canister art:
http://www.caacart.com/html/Romuald-Haz ... n-art.html

i like that it is so stripped-down, fast and low-maintenance..

m/a.. x

cheers that's a wicked link. Ya i use twitter but if you don't get it ie it's not of any use to you, don't use it. Maybe you should ask yourself what you're expecting of it, that way you don't use it for a day and give up. There is no hidden secret to what twitter is supposed to do, there are certain aspects opf it that certain people will find useful.

By the way, I'd rather be a tnuc than call people one :P
