I went to a show in a small concrete basement on friday night

they had some mackie active shit sub & top no soundman PA rig turned up to 11

they ended up frying it because they were pushing the mixer into the red, it was distorting so bad the system went ablaze!!

but I forgot my earplugs and I am still paying for that mistake...

almost a week later

yeah me too... I was thinking of having a note on my screen that says "TURN IT DOWN!"

It would be cool to have a dB meter, then I wouldn't have to be guessing, I could just get used to a safe sound level...

I used to purposely spin at my apartment with the monitors as quiet as I could stand for two reasons -

1. so I got used to quiet monitors, and 2. so I could play while my gf is asleep.

Im constantly turning them down at shows now

When the tune is JUST how you want it.. you work in small parts - without listening to start > finish.

Then you listen all the way through and its just garbage
