One of the things that's been difficult is our relationship with the genre name dubstep. Our sound is ours alone, it's not defined by that scene, nor is that scene represented by any Vex'd record. People need to understand that.

whilst you might only be aware of what gets released, the Vex'd guys have worked on all sorts of stuff, all sorts of tempos & vibes - I think one would be doing them a disservice by attempting to restrict or pigenhole them to 'just' dubstep.

Supposed to be comin on Ital002 b/w Loefah rmx, but judging on how long it took Salute by Oris Jay (also supposed to be Ital002 a loooong time ago), I wouldn't hold ya breath.

sonically they're totally different to the bulk of most dubstep producers, but thy still hold a pretty firm place in the scene. they've brought a lot of attention to the style n drawn a lot of people in from other genres.
so massive respect due.

I think Killing Floor makes me shat myself.

Who cares if it is different to the other music, scenes get boring when you go out raving and you hear five identical sets, varity is the spice of life!
All we should care about is that its good music, not if it fits into a rigid dubstep formula.

Took me a while to get vexed I didnt real feel the album when it first came out, but to me thats a good sign, because their tunes have definitely grown on me to the point where i consider some of them phenomenal.

My favourites would be Pop Pop, Function and Bombardment of Saturn.

For me they're just another shade of dubstep. I'd get bored if there were only halfstep dread pastiches.

Personally I couldnt give a monkey's sphincter if Vex'd are dubstep or not, they happen to make some boom tunes that I hear out and skank like a twat to. And thats good enough for me.

Vex'd = mint

Vex'd was the first dubstep (or kinda like dubstep if you like!) (EDIT: the first that I heard!!), after request line. Degenerate is a great full length, off to see them on the weekend, hope they can live up to it.

Some of their stuff is dubstep (3rd Choice / Sileni remix) and some of it is not.

Vex'd are top notch producers and engineers... simple as. Bet you if one day they decided to make a techno track, it would still sound rude as fuck.

I cant believe we are on 3 pages with no mention of "Crusher Dub". This is one track that every time i play it, anywhere, heads just get nuts. It is the track really got me listening.

Vex'd = Murderation

have had the album for a while on CD, but don't really get into it much anymore. a bit too heavy, and i've already had my fill of agro distorted bass and "evil" sounds being in d&b for over 10 years. what attracted me to dubstep was the spacey dub qualities and skankin' rhythms.

d&b is maximalist, and dubstep is minimalist. less is more and listening to vex'd is like getting hit in the head with a spiked bat over and over. not dissing anybody who likes that sound though as there's a place for every sound.

vex'd are pure filth, any1 that saw them at glade will confirm this i'm sure. they're not everyone's cup of t and thats prob why theyr always on last at DMZ...large up the twitchy droid leg rmx - pure unbridled duttiweight sounds!

p.s. does any1 have a copy of the old gunman/smart bomb 12" that dropped on planet mu for sale? x
