DJ???do i have 2 say?as a dj,Heny G is by far the best dj i have seen in dubstep(maybe even in the whole dance music scene) and ive heard every1!!!!!!people,say,youngsta and people say n.type, but think any1 thats seen heny play out would agree, his mixing skill are well under rated, his riddim selection takes da mick and the most entertaining is seeing him enjoy himself behind the decks, no dj is like heny in the dubstep scene



producer???the whole ov anti social entertainment.....in all the years ive been involved in dance music, ive never come across such young talented producers in 1 crew, ase is the future and they will be the reason one day dubstep will cross over into different markets(not the usual techno/electro crossover bull!)real M U S I C for the soul!

Saw ASE DJ in Bristol a few months ago and most of their tunes sound pretty similar, not much gap bridging. And how is techno not real music? I agree King Cannibal bridges gap nicely between jungle, drum and bass, dubstep, breakcore, dirty dancehall, whatever. Big DJ. Warlock aswell plays a lot of dark garage and 2tep as well os (dark/good) electro, speed garage/bassline, dubstep, any thing with interesting breaks in from what I can tell. Another big DJ. Peverelist doesnt play very hard tunes, but he plays a wide variety of deeper stuff from grime, techno, jungle and reggae.

It's funny though cos I wouldn't even describe Brackles and Oneman as dubstep DJs anymore... you get maybe a couple of joker tunes, some old loefah/dmz tunes and the rest is all garage/funky/grime...

Shouts to any DJ not playing five identikit wobble tunes in a row, tho

Appleblim is one of the best dubstep selectors no question

speaking of repetitive sets, (please dont slate me) saw n-type the other week at dub arena im starting to get bored of his sets... big wobbler, after the other anyone else agree? taking nothing away from the man, hes legend but recently some of the "big guns" are almost taking on the dnb sort of "big man, big tunes" sort of vibe. anyone?

and this is why heny g in my opinion is the best dubstep dj there is,he's not afraid of playing certian tracks and the impact he has on people on the dancefloor when ive gone to see him play has been 10 times a bigger response then what ive seen n.type,hatcha and all da malarkee do in the dance!untill heny goes down the bait route that n.type and hatcha has gone down, he will remain for me the Randall of dubstep.

I agree - if all the set is at the same intensity/impact then there is no contrast, and this can get boring.
The same applies to minimal berlinesque dubstep - if that's all you hear then that too can get boring

The most exciting DJ's are the ones who have contrast in their sets and sound -
I think dubstep has reached a point where DJ's & promoters have a duty to keep the balance in the sound.
If we start just getting wobble nights or deep nights the scene could splinter as DnB did

A great example is someone like Grooverider - if you were lucky enough to catch him around 95/96 (as I was) his sets were immense,
deep, dark but then would explode with light & melody and then be really funky & rolling. he would take risks and go deep and slow
he DICTATED the sound at Bluenote - he played what he wanted you to hear, not what you wanted to hear
But in later years I think he played to what the crowd wanted and like the rest of DnB it became generic 'everything in 5th gear full revs' type of sound

I hope that DJ's & promoters keep the scene diverse -

DJing is like Jazz to me. If the crowd isn't into it, you change it up until they are, then rock it out. Before there were all these genres and sub genres of music, if you wanted to work as a DJ you had to be diverse. There was no two ways about it.

With the advent of Serato there is no excuse for not being able to represent more than one sound. Back when it was vinyl only, clubs had in house vinyl on racks in the back of the DJ booths so the DJ didn't have to bring 2000 records with them to play an effective set.

Producers can zero in on one sub sub sub genre of a sound if they want and crank out records using the same template. The DJs as presenters cannot follow that same mentality.

Brackles, Braiden, Oneman, Greena, Ben UFO, Whistla, Kode 9.
