Burial, truly a composer using the medium of electronic music to discover new sonic variables for expressivity, is known for his unquantised beats – they reach a ‘wonky’ extreme in his ‘Night Train’ and ‘Shutta’, where they create such a fractured, beautiful mess that it defies anything but the most complex of metrical perceptions.

instead of
1234-2234-3234-4234 that is standard of 4/4 time you count
123-223-323-423 it is a 3/4 feel but in 4/4 with triplets
they made it look complicated in their fancy pants notation because that articles writer is pretty pretentious
(comparing wonky to abstract art as if abstract electronic didnt exist before wonky???)

i dont think he's pretentious at all.this is possibly the best analysis of this new music right now from a rudimentary standpoint.

On a final note anyone wanna give me a tour of the most important bits of garage and jungle, the big tunes and the revalutionary ones too, i really want to hear more of the drums, i think i prefer them to the emptyness of most dubstep beats :S
