But also, to everyone who's like "It's just a matter of taste":
Kind of, but some taste is better than others :P

And secondly, it's not just a matter of disliking his music. Within a music scene what one artist does affects other artists, affects even the people in the scene who don't like that artist. All that shit wobble has fundamentally altered the dubstep scene. Part of the reason people seem to be talking at odds to each other is that the fans of skrillex aren't really even in a scene at all. Dubstep started as a tight knit London and Bristol ting. Eve when it wasn't just Big Apple Records, even around 2006/2007 when it was getting more popular, there was a sense of community, of purpose. For anyone who thinks that sounds pretentious, this is why you don't understand how attached people get to those things which are "just labels", these labels 'dubstep', 'jungle', 'garage' mean real things to people, the talk of a shared experience and a shared way of looking at music, a culture. Some people are purist dickheads who never want to like anything popular. Fuck 'em. It's a good thing when a scene grows. But it's only a good thing when the scene grows while still retaining it's 'sceneness'.

Brostep - people like Skrillex and Nero, are like an imperial power. Knowing nothing of dubstep's culture and roots, it colonized the whole thing, stole it's name, opened it up to globalization so that what was an exciting local London scene became this big stupid international internet thing. Dubstep's original inhabitants, forced off their island, are now stranded in the big, vaguely defined ocean that is post-dubstep.

So it's not just that Skrillex (and all the rest of them) make shit music. It's that Skrillex's shit music completely altered the scene of dubstep to the extent that most of dubstep's fans have had to jump ship.
You can't blame Skrillex for "altering" the dubstep scene.. He did something a bit different, he experimented with many different genres and put his own spin on them, notably punk rock as a major influence. This is a natural occurrence in ALL "genres" of music, if it wasn't, people would loose interest and your precious scene would die out, in fact, it never would have existed in the first place. Just because you don't like his style, doesn't mean that it's shit, the fact that he's as popular as he is, has got to be proof enough that a large amount of people completely disagree with your opinion.
Dubstep is actually really far behind in terms of mass exposure, the internet has totally changed almost all previously underground music scenes and people need to get over it, being popular doesn't make an artist a "sell-out", it simply means that a larger audience likes the music, last time i checked this wasn't something you could choose. And who cares if someone loves Nero and Skrillex without getting into any of the older stuff? And how can that be the fault of either artists? Everyone who releases a track hopes that it will make it big, but there's no way to anticipate the outcome.
If the style you like is as good as you say it is, i can't see why it can't just co-exist with the newer style? No one's forcing you to "jump ship", if you put aside your pretentious "mine's better than yours" attitude, you might find that you actually like something that comes out of it all.
At the end of the day, you can spend your days being bitter about it (remember those early days when you didn't understand people who winged about the music not being as good as it used to be and you swore you'd never be like that?), or you can accept that this is natural progression whether you like what comes of it or not.

Skrillex is what he is, an artist. love him or hate him, he's still gonna keep on keepin', despite what everyone has to say. that's what people who believe in theirselves do. This motherfucker sells out shows and rocks the house. Not a fan of his sound, but his thing's going for him. You gotta respect that. haters need to stop being so jealous and so quick to run their mouth over nothing. Can you do better?? Do it, and prove to the rest that you're above his quality and presence. The dudes running what he's doing and the more you hate, the more he's gonna get attention and more fans. It's funny how people will protest to be heard, but all you're really doing is making your cause worse.

Sometimes, the best protest is a silent protest. just my 2.
