it's not cool to be a dubstep fan if everyone is a dubstep fan... if your scene becomes too big you get lost amongst the crowd and those sad people I mention feel like they've lost their identity.

Most rational people understand that mainstream music is mainstream because it strikes certain nerves amongst people and can discern that the dubstep scene and the mainstream dance scene are two entirely different things.
^^^ This is exactly where my head was at when making this thread. Whether YOU feel this way or not, these TYPES of people are common in the dubstep genre. My question, is why?

i have been listening to dubstep since 06 and i can honestly tell you i have never encountered anyone with this mindset. losing their identity? nah son, people just don't like obnoxious, poorly produced nonsense. i've been to enough parties to know that if all someone plays is that style, it's not worth it to stick around and listen for maybe one tune that might be cool

if anything , the only "type" that is "common in the dubstep genre" are young kids who just want to get fucked up and mosh, chicks that want to wind their waste and doont care what genre it is, or people who just like repetitive heavy music

This is not elitist.

This is elitist.

That's how I see it anyway, fwiw.

Trying to turn everyone who listens to a certain style into some bullshit stereotype is a bunch of crap.

Dubstep is like ice cream to me. Chocolate, Strawberry & Vanilla are 3 different flavors but they're all delicious.

If you're only scooping out one flavor, embrace the fact that the rest are good too, they just taste different.

Word.

Brostep has corrupted what dubstep was about and for that testicles need to be removed and thrown into the mainstream for all to see floating by. This comes from a nationalist turned reluctant dictator, whose one redeeming feature, according to the West, is a love of dubstep. The mainstream, per se, dilutes artistry and class.
