like i said earlier in the thread, maintaining a balance is important for happiness

if you aren't happy with your perception of humanity, it isn't because of what is going on outside, its because you cant balance your perception of what is going on outside - you can look at all the bad that humans have been guilty of, but you cannot see the good which balances it out

just like depression is supposedly due to chemical imbalance, perceptual imbalance can cause irrational feelings towards whatever is being perceived or in this case conceived... so i suppose it'd be a conceptual imbalance?

the concept of 'humanity' should contain each and every action, capability, possibility etc. which humans are able - unspeakable cruelty balanced with unspeakable kindness

if you see one without the other you suffer from a conceptual, perceptual imbalance, and the word 'suffer' is important there, hate is pain
"the blade its self incites evil deeds" homer IIRC. :)

im very surprised by people on this forum time after time

surprised by how childish some of you can be and yet so convinced of your greater maturity

im far more disgusted by the general publics obsession with death and morbid curiosity that leads them to mourn en masse the death of someone famous, the hypocrisy of people that on one hand will condemn many with one hand without realising it and then get upset about a few jokes about someone thats not around due to self inflicted illness...

I don't see anything wrong with any joke about anything if its actually funny and not hateful

if youre gonna second guess the motives of people thats you making big assumptions not to mention deciding you know someones journey to that point in their life based on a few statements made about their general attitude to humanity.....if put to the test i guess all of our world views could be picked apart by people desiring to do so

id say overall everyone has the ability to both sympathise and be callous to individuals and overall id guess everyone just picks and chooses where to put that...youd be very surprised to those getting offended there are probably times in your life that youve been callous in a situation where others may have chosen to give sympathy....every person thinks they are an angel

and capo ultra im 31 and had plenty of bad experiences but i try and see the humour in situations it keeps me going

tbf mate, i never said dont make the jokes, i said they were shit.

myself, im not mourning her, i dont think about her, i dont care she's dead... but im not happy she's dead either, im not making spiteful comments about her, im not judging her by her problems, her actions

the thing i found the worst about a lot of peoples reactions were how scarily knee-jerk they were

young girl - never touched drugs and was ANTI drugs before the release of her first album - overnight addict - media latch on and paint pictures of her downfall, in fact PRAY for the next time she slips up so they can get a story - and people's response is to jump all over her, in life and THEN in death

personally, i dont think thats childish :)

you don't care she's dead you just care about how people react = controlling

I find sanctimoniousity more repugnant personally; middle class guilt. Guardian is rife with that kind of patronising shit.

yeah but this point is totally irrelevant since everyone here is discussing morality, how people behave in given situations... and on top of that you're talking about how i behave, whilst engaged in a discussion on other peoples behaviour

attempting to control the controller

some base form of anti-authoritarian white knight bullshit

lets get back to the discussion

oh and Firky - i may be being sanctimonious, im also right, what's 'middle class guilt' got to do with anything i just said?

who fixes the fixer?
(me)

just to add a further tuppence, i dont give a shit about people making jokes, its just annoying when people claim political sensibilities in a joke, ie the whole 'you can laugh at everything or nothing' south park argument. yeah sure, you personally can do that, but as soon as you say it its no longer yours personally, it is public. and as much as a lot of people cant seem to accept it, other people do have their own opinions in what is funny, which are no less valid than yours. and if you cant understand that there are people that wont find jokes as funny as you do, that is not their shortcoming, it is yours. im not saying dont make the joke, im saying dont make it and assume a position of moral superiority because of making it.
tldr, people have opinions and death is sad

We should always respect the dead, even if the person was ugly, had sailor tattoos, slurred their speech, lived with a lifelong addiction and relied upon a fix to get through the day...

RIP Popeye.

Amy Winehouse walks up the stairs to heaven and see's Michael Jackson waiting at the top of the stairs, she turns round and asks him if he's waiting for her. He turns round and says no, I'm waiting for the 40 Norwegian boys I ordered last week.

Does anyone care if shes dead or not? Im sure theres a million other people that have died in the last month that didnt deserve it and lets be totally honest, she was a crack addled wreck and it was only question of time until she went too far.
