It is the sort of rhythmic, textured impacts I am talking about

0.17 - 0.45 in this (scarily amazing) tune:

Wow man great tune! I don't claim to be a master of any sorts at sound design, but I thought I'd give you my best guess ;) Sounds like one of two things to me
1. Granular synthesis, if you don't know what it is, look it up :) camel audio's alchemy would be perfect and easy to use for this sort of thing, just put in a sine or triangley type sound get your blip by enveloping/filtering and you'd probably then want to resample and just do the rhythmic patterns in audio. Try different experimenting with different filters and modulation afterwards to get the right movement in your sound :) (pro tip: granular synthesis is gonna be a challenge if your not an experienced sound designer, so stick at it! but I'm pretty sure this is what it the sound is)
2. (this would be easier if your using something like massive) Load up a simple triangle and some white noise get a nice sound with some dynamics to it so you get similar to the sound in the tune, then you want to be using the performer, set a pattern of steep down ramps, and put a macro on unsynced speed, this way you'll get some interesting rhythms to it :)
I tried these two myself and they didn't sound too bad :) (bear in mind this is a fucking good producer and your not gonna copy it first time) but hopefully you should get a sound with a similar effect :) hope this helps!

Hey guys, I'm trying to improve a synth I've already made, I had an attempt at creating the synths in "Finish Him" by Trampa and Lonestar (linked below) to help build my understanding of synthesis, and I've got a pretty rough attempt at the "womp" kind of sound, unfortunately its still a far cry from the original. But it's the best I can do at the moment, so I've come here for help!

this is the original (skip to 0:28 to hear the part I've tried to recreate):

and this is my attempt at a re-creation (I think the "machine gun" stye synth is pretty spot on, but the "womp" sucks!):
Soundcloud

If anyone can help, thank you!

The "womp" sounds really thin and both need to be beefed up. The first thing you should do is hi pass those synths at around 150 or so and then layer a sub underneath. This will immediately beef up the machine gun part because it sounds like it has almost no sub at all. Next, the machine gun synth in the song is most defenitly multiple synths layered. I would create a sound that has some good mids, and one that has some good highs, eq each to taste, add some saturation and compress them together. I know that's really vague but this is a great start and will defenitly get you a bigger sound. Hope this helps.

Yeah, you should layer the machine gun synth, and beef it up a little, trust me it'll do much! :)

Pretty certain that's a sample from a jazz tune. But the sample sounds like a rhodes organ.

Search up a tutorial for the Flux Pavilion Got 2 Know synth in massive, and layer it with a new massive, with only one wavetable on. WT set to moderntalking, -12 or -24 semitones, some disto and you've got it :)

I got something pretty close to this, using ni massive.
osc 1: saw wave
osc2: saw wave -1 octave
osc3: dirty throat
filter: daft, with no resonance and cutoff at about 2 o'clock, with the lfo pushed up till the green part reaches just before the max.
lfo: sawtooth, and 100%, with the x-fade curve about 80% towards sawtooth.
insert: sine shaper, d/w and drive both at 50%
fx1: classic tube with d/w and drive both at 50%.
fx2: dimension expander with d/w at 50% and size at 30%.

Also try adding a bit of sinoid fold saturation if you have it.

That's pretty close to it, and for an unrelated but really cool sound, take one of the modulators and put it on phase (osc2) from 0% to 100%. It makes a really cool metllic sound the more you turn it up!

Hope this helps:)

btw can someone please try to help with the " circus records " style sound i posted? Thanks! :)
Have you tried searching on youtube for Doctor P Sweet Shop synth or anything like that? I think you should get some pretty close sounds :)
You're a genius :P Thank you! i used the one by nizmo, then got rid of and changed some sounds, added in another filter and some post processing, exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!
Haha, no problem :) Gotta post up the results! :)
Soundcloud
Heres the finished tune, The sound I came out with is the lead in the drop. I decided to scrap the one made from nizmo, then I built something up on the same idea: triangle forments with a lot of parabolic shaper and a saw wave to give it a bit of a bass. then resampling & stuff :D I think it came out pretty cool, reminded me of roksonix and of the trolley snatcha remix of contact

Hi, I'm a long time lurker, new time poster. I'm relatively new to production, only been working on stuff since around February. I've mostly been playing around with my own sounds, but there is this one type of synth I've been trying to recreate (this is my second time trying to figure it out) and I can't seem to get it. It's probably really easy but I just haven't been able to figure it out.

The synth I'm talking about is the high pitched buzzing one in this song that comes in right at 0:41:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qpUChC6iU4

I've heard it used in a couple songs before and I have a few ideas for using it, but I've been perplexed as to how to get that particular sound.

Any help would be much appreciated :) .

Anyone know how to make the machine-ish sound found at:

0:53

0:07

They're both basically the same sound. I'm not too concerned about the vocal effect on the sound. Mostly want the machine-ish aggressive tone of the initial WOOOOMMMPPP at the beginning of each drop.
Thanks in advance!

I was wondering if anyone here could help walk me through how to make a synth like the ones you hear in this tune in Massive. I'd really like to be able to make the ones at 55 seconds and 1:17 in specific. If anyone is willing I'd be greatly appreciative

Artists like Trampa, Persist etc use Reason, they're sounds I've been trying to get for a little while, I dunno how you'd do it in massive but all those artists use Malstrom
