why would you persist with it?
Because the established techno and house forums won't welcome them with open arms, they bitter.
On twitter they can pretend criticism against their opinions doesn't exist while getting their dicks tickled by 'followers'.

Mala fans are awful on Facebook, even when he didn't turn up to system they treated him like God.

They're awful everywhere. Little Mini-Malas who are all down with dub and soundsystem culture and vinyl who treat his posts like holy scripture, rag on brostep for being unoriginal and costing minimal effort to produce, while sharing 'Alicia' every chance they get.

Mala in Cuba was clearly too deep for us as it didn't change our lives and effect how we see the world but seems to have effected a lot of people.
Was my disappointment of the year, ended up putting it on discogs.
Kept my copy of Cuban electronic as it's pretty decent.

It's so cringey, it actually pains me. Funniest when they'll give it all the "Peace, love and dubplates" spiel, then tell you that you're a fucking prick who deserves to get knocked out if you don't agree with them.
IMO, if facebook and twitter wasn't there, doubt they'd be moaning as much about DSF, as just discussing tunes* would be the norm, not just endless 140 character nonsense/blowing down the producer's dick on every status.
*Pete summed it up perfectly, if I like something, I like it, if not, I'll discuss with other people, and try to find something I do like. The VAST majority on this forum are ultimately here to find music they will like, or to discuss that which they already do with like-minded people. Not many come here to exclusively just hate on tunes.
I get what you're saying about the forum's importance, but I think this place has been pretty good. Look at all the nights that people on this place have started, all the DJs playing out at local nights or further afield, labels (whether physical or digital) starting up or sending out promo, collabs going on, people finding new releases. I wouldn't have started up my blog/label if it wasn't for this place, and I know I've exposed a tonne of people to new music from that. It may not be stadium filling stuff nor did it spawn the sound, but I'd say this forum has been one of the most important places for dubstep.

Wubs winding people up on the DMZ event page is a perfect example of this. People telling him to fuck off and die or that they would shit on his head

then saying yeah meditate on bass weight, peace and love.

But this is the problem isn't it? We read those posts and now have 5 posts dismissing all the fans on FB of Mala as dumb ass trustafarians. It's equally easy for them, twitter and whoever to say the same about DSF because of a couple of people unable to write what they think in a literate and civil way. And so the vicious circle carries over, more and more big names shun the forum, their followers talk shit, we talk shit about them, repeat ad nauseum.
Gareth - You're 100% on point mate.

I'm stuck between going at a mate's cabin for 3-4 days or going to see Mala. Would have been easier to decide if his sets were like 50% cuban tracks
