Do both all you want, in fact if you hit weights and want real strength I'd recommend it. I've been doing labor since I was 12 years old and that has built up my strength way more than hitting weights ever had.

Decided each week by an individual ninja drawn from a roster of active ninjas, starting with the most recent on membership list & working backwards

But that doesn't sound simple, so forget it.

it's open to any member of the public, but any member of the public can be banned, so i think that's what it would mean

It's privately owned in that you don't have any "rights" that you might think you have. They can pick and choose what to do with you as much as they want.
